Kyotamba Town Recruits Students for Internship Program: Hands-on Experience and Interaction with Young Staff

Kyotamba Town (Mayor: Genichi Hatanaka) will implement the "FY2026 Kyotamba Town Internship" with the aim of deepening understanding of administrative work and community development.

Currently, the town is recruiting students to participate in this internship.

Kyotamba Town is promoting community development that creates new value together with residents and the region, by accumulating small practices and improvements without being bound by precedents or customs when addressing local issues.

In recent years, the town has continued to take on challenges that go beyond the framework of local government, such as establishing a regional trading company, founding a privately-run NPO originating from the administration, and collaborating with overseas universities. This internship provides an opportunity to experience the work of local government officials tackling regional issues while being exposed to the forefront of such administrative efforts.

Learning Administrative Work on the Front Line

Administrative work covers a wide range of areas, including resident services, welfare, education, industrial promotion, tourism, and disaster prevention.

Through hands-on experience in various departments, this internship allows participants to learn about the roles of local governments and how to approach regional issues. It also includes opportunities to interact with young and senior staff, allowing participants to hear directly not only about job content but also about work styles and career development.

This is a practical program that can serve as a trigger for considering future career paths, not only for those aiming for administrative positions but also for students interested in regional revitalization and community development.

Kyotamba Town, Kyoto Prefecture

Kyotamba Town is located in the upper reaches of the Yura River system on the Tamba Plateau in central Kyoto Prefecture. Forests cover over 80% of the area, boasting magnificent nature.

Blessed with conditions for delicious crops, such as "Tamba fog" that makes vegetables grow fresh and the temperature difference between day and night that locks in flavor, the town has cultivated specialty products known as the "Tamba brand." Led by "Kyotamba Chestnuts," which have a history of being presented to the imperial court and the shogunate, products like "black soybeans," "Tamba matsutake mushrooms," and "Kyotamba shimeji mushrooms" are all characterized by their rich flavor. It is also one of Kyoto's leading livestock and dairy farming areas, truly a "food treasure trove" supporting Kyoto's gourmet culture.

In October 2023, the town announced its town promotion policy. With the keyword "GREEN GREEN," it aims to expand beyond the framework of the "town" as a "community connected by feelings" to Kyoto, all of Japan, and the world.
