Chen Wen-hui Breaks Two National Records in Weightlifting at National Games, Eyes Asian Championships

At the 115th National Intercollegiate Athletic Games, Chen Wen-hui appeared in the women's 69kg category today. In the snatch event, which took place first, she demonstrated excellent form, not only lifting a record-breaking 102kg on her first attempt, but also successfully challenging 105kg and 108kg, effectively rewriting the record three times.

In the clean and jerk event, Chen Wen-hui's opening lift was a successful 130kg. On her second attempt, she sought to break the national record of 135kg, but it was unsuccessful. However, Chen Wen-hui felt her condition was fine, so she increased the weight to 137kg for her third attempt. Unfortunately, after lifting it, she was disqualified upon exiting the stage, missing the opportunity to set a new national record.

After the competition, Chen Wen-hui told the media that she was very satisfied with her snatch performance, but felt the clean and jerk could have been a little better, and she didn't handle the details well. She noted that after her breakthrough performance in the snatch, her emotions were high, which affected her rhythm for subsequent adjustments. "The excitement after the snatch was hard to bring back down, and I couldn't quite reset my state for the clean and jerk," she said.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) will comprehensively adjust weight categories in June 2025, and Chen Wen-hui consistently competes in the 69kg class. She assesses her adaptation to this as quite good and plans to continue strengthening her foundational power to improve her overall performance. She is also looking forward to the Asian Weightlifting Championships in India in May and is fully focused on the Nagoya Asian Games.
