Taiwan, US, Guatemala Jointly Host First GCTF Workshop to Help Guatemala Strengthen Cybersecurity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release this morning stating that Taiwan and the US Embassy in Guatemala, in cooperation with the Guatemalan government, jointly held the first "Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) Overseas Workshop: Strengthening Cybersecurity Resilience and Digital Infrastructure" international seminar in Guatemala City on the 6th local time. The event focused on how to build a secure digital environment to jointly address cybersecurity technical risks and enhance Guatemala's overall digital security. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the event invited about 100 experts from industry, government, and academia from like-minded countries such as Taiwan, the United States, Guatemala, and Japan. Discussion topics included "Risk Assessment Behind Low-Cost Telecommunication Products," "Building Highly Resilient Digital Infrastructure," and "Cross-National Cooperation in Regional Cybersecurity." Through practical experience exchange, the professional capabilities of participants in critical infrastructure protection were strengthened. Zhang Jun-fei stated in her speech that Taiwan is at the forefront of global digital protection, possesses rich practical experience and technological innovation capabilities, and continuously shares its cybersecurity governance experience through the GCTF platform. Taiwan will work with like-minded countries such as the United States to assist its ally Guatemala in establishing transparent and resilient digital infrastructure. US Chargé d'Affaires to Guatemala, John M. Barrett, also emphasized that deepening regional cybersecurity cooperation is crucial for enhancing digital transparency. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that since its establishment in 2015, the "Global Cooperation and Training Framework" (GCTF) has become an important platform for promoting international professional exchange and capacity building. This first cybersecurity-themed event held in Guatemala demonstrates Taiwan's active commitment to assisting Central and South American partners in enhancing cybersecurity resilience and digital governance capabilities.
