President Trump posted on his social media platform 'Truth Social' today, stating that based on his conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir, and at their request to temporarily suspend the use of destructive force against Iran tonight, provided Iran agrees to 'thoroughly, immediately, and safely' open the Strait of Hormuz, 'I have agreed to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for a period of two weeks.' Trump also said in his post that this would be a two-way ceasefire, adding, 'The decision was made because we have achieved and surpassed all military objectives, and have made great progress with Iran in concluding a long-term peace agreement and peace in the Middle East.' Trump said, 'We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it will serve as a viable basis for negotiations.' Finally, he stated that most of the past differences between the US and Iran have been resolved, and the two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and formally take effect.
