Tainan City Council, Shiga Prefectural Assembly Sign Friendly Exchange Agreement

The signing ceremony was held at the Tainan City Council, represented by Tainan City Council Speaker Chiu Li-li and Shiga Prefectural Assembly Speaker Nobusato Mekata, with many Shiga Prefectural Assembly members in attendance.
Chiu Li-li stated that Shiga, home to Japan's largest freshwater lake, Lake Biwa, has achieved outstanding results in environmental protection, sustainable development, and the circular economy. Tainan is a major historical and cultural center in Taiwan, continuously promoting cultural governance and urban transformation, and the two regions highly align in sustainable development and urban governance.
She added that the signing of the friendly exchange agreement will promote the sharing of administrative experience, continue to foster multifaceted cooperation in tourism, culture, youth, and sustainable development, and deepen Taiwan-Japan friendship.
Nobusato Mekata said that through exchanges at the assembly level, sharing opinions and experiences on local governance issues will help improve each other's administration and promote regional development, deepen trust, and foster cooperation in diverse fields such as economy, tourism, and culture.
