Tainan Asia-Pacific Baseball Stadium Vendor Bidding Causes Controversy, Tainan City Government to Re-tender in Late April

An incident occurred on March 29th at the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Training Center's main stadium during a professional baseball opening game where a fan slapped a temporary worker. On April 2nd, controversy arose again regarding the bidding for external stalls (recruitment period: April 2nd to 8th). Director of the Tainan City Sports Bureau, Chen Liang-qian, publicly apologized, and Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che admitted that the execution process was not sufficiently meticulous.

The Sports Bureau informed Central News Agency reporters that after comprehensive evaluation of the event schedule, overall venue operational needs, and relevant practical operations, it was determined that the original plan for external vendor recruitment only covered the first half of the season and did not fully correspond to the entire year's season. Therefore, the bidding has been cancelled today. The operational period for vendor recruitment will be adjusted to cover the entire season, which includes the regular season for the Uni-President Lions until September of this year.

The Sports Bureau explained that this adjustment is based on overall operational planning and is not targeted at any individual vendor. As it involves a significant change in bidding conditions, it will be handled according to Article 48, Paragraph 1 of the "Government Procurement Act" for cancellation, and will be re-announced online after the bidding document content is finalized.
