Melania Trump Makes Rare Public Statement, Denies Ties to Epstein

Agence France-Presse reported that the US Department of Justice has released a large number of files related to Jeffrey Epstein over the past year, including a widely circulated photo of Donald Trump and Melania at their Mar-a-Lago club in Florida with Epstein and his sex trafficking accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. However, Melania stated today: "I knew nothing of Epstein's abuses of his victims. I was never involved in any capacity, I was not a part of it, nor did I ever fly on Epstein's plane or visit his private island." She also said: "I have never been charged or convicted of any crimes related to Epstein's sex trafficking, abuse of minors, or other heinous acts." Melania also emphasized that she met Trump two years before she knew Epstein. She said: "I was not a victim of Epstein, nor did he introduce me to Trump." Melania stated that false images and narratives about Epstein and her have been circulating on social media for years, "Be careful what you think: these images and narratives are completely false." She added: "The lies that link me to the despicable Epstein must end today. ...Those who spread lies about me have no moral standards, humility, or respect." It is currently unclear why Melania decided to make this public statement. She also did not mention any specific accusations against her or Epstein.
