On August 6, 2026 (Thu), ORTE General Incorporated Association (Representative Director: Eri Yamamoto) will hold "Let's Connect Through Music! Hungarian Folk Songs and a New Music Experience Workshop Created by You and Everyone - Nextone Workshop -" as part of the "Children's Kasumigaseki Day" program, an initiative jointly implemented by various government ministries and agencies including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the auspices of the Liszt Hungarian Cultural Center, the cultural department of the Embassy of Hungary. This workshop offers an experience where children, starting with Hungarian folk songs, combine music related to their own roots with music brought by their friends to co-create new music.

Let's Connect Through Music! Hungarian Folk Songs and a New Music Experience Workshop Created by You and Everyone - Nextone Workshop -

Learn about culture, know yourself, and know others through music

The Nextone Workshop is an experiential workshop that begins with Hungarian folk songs, where participants bring music related to their own roots, and co-create new music while learning about each other's cultures.

Participants introduce music related to themselves, such as folk songs, children's songs, and festival music, and learn about the culture and history behind it. Then, they combine the characteristics of each piece of music to create new music together.

ORTE Nextone Workshop

Regardless of musical experience, the workshop emphasizes "dialogue through sound" and the "process of co-creation" rather than performance technique, providing an opportunity to think about understanding different cultures and one's own and others' identities. Learning through such hands-on experience is an important opportunity to deepen understanding while interacting with others, even in the age of AI.

Navigated by a pianist who knows two cultures, Europe and Japan

Eri Yamamoto, a pianist who has studied in Hungary and is active internationally, with cultural backgrounds in both Japan and Europe, will serve as the workshop leader and navigator connecting music and culture.

She studied abroad in Hungary at the age of 16 and graduated at the top of her class from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Hungary. She then completed the Professional Diploma course at the Royal Academy of Music, UK, and is currently active as an exclusive pianist for the Strings Department at the Royal Academy of Music. While introducing the charm and cultural background of Hungarian folk songs, she will support the process of all participants creating new music.

About ORTE

ORTE is a coined word combining the Latin words "ORBIS" (world, earth) and "ARTE" (art, skill). ORBIS signifies a place where different cultures meet and understand each other. ARTE represents artistic practice that fuses tradition and creativity. ORTE aims to create new forms of learning that connect culture, history, and people through music, and to foster the ability of young people to forge their own futures based on their sensibilities and experiences. Its philosophy is that the world's cultures are cyclically connected, and young people co-create new values.
