Special Event 'The Future of Construction Firms and Onsite Work in the AI Era' to Be Held on July 24 to Commemorate 10th Anniversary of Komyuten Forum

The General Incorporated Association Komyuten Forum (headquartered in Yashio City, Saitama Prefecture) will co-host, with Sohjusha Co., Ltd., a special seminar titled 'The Future of Construction Firms and Onsite Work in the AI Era – A 10th Anniversary Special Project' on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Waseda University’s Nishi-Waseda Campus.

With the rapid advancement of generative AI, applications in the construction industry are expanding across various domains, including design support, information gathering, and customer service. At the same time, the unique values of construction firms—such as on-site experience, judgment, and human relationships—are being re-evaluated.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Komyuten Forum, this event will focus on AI as a key theme for the next decade. Through diverse perspectives from industry media, AI developers, and practicing architects, participants will explore critical questions such as 'How will AI transform construction work?' and 'What value should construction firms deliver in the AI era?'

The event will also incorporate feedback and questions collected through a pre-event survey, fostering an interactive discussion grounded in the real voices of professionals working in the field.

Background of the Event

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Komyuten Forum has chosen AI as a central theme to reflect on the future of the construction industry.

Over the past decade, the construction industry has undergone significant changes. Challenges such as rising material costs, labor shortages, and the need for digital transformation have become increasingly complex for local construction firms.

In this context, AI has emerged as a major focus. Generative AI continues to evolve rapidly, opening up new possibilities for application in design, construction, sales, and communication. Yet, human capabilities—such as context-sensitive decision-making and building trust with clients—remain irreplaceable.

The launch of 'Kenchiku Chino,' an AI platform for the construction industry jointly developed by Sohjusha and Archiroid Inc., reflects growing industry interest in AI adoption.

With Sohjusha’s support, this event aims not only to discuss AI’s potential but also to re-examine the balance between tasks suited for AI and those that must remain human-driven, inviting participants to co-create a vision for the future of construction firms and the industry.
