◾️ Toshiya Miyata Special Interview (Excerpts)

・ Please share your honest feelings about being appointed as the Official Supporter for TGS2026.

TGS is an event that game lovers can't get enough of, with new game information being announced and creators from around the world gathering. I've always loved games myself, so I still can't quite believe I've been entrusted with the role of Official Supporter. I want to do my best to deliver the appeal of TGS to as many people as possible, while also valuing the perspective of a game fan! I want to make this special 30th anniversary the best one yet, together with all of you!

・ What are your favorite games?

RPGs have been my favorite since I was a child and they still are. I also enjoy simulation games, like the Pokémon series. Recently, I've really been into "Pokémon UNITE," and I've said it everywhere, but I'm probably the strongest in the entertainment industry at it! I've played it so much that I'm ready to challenge anyone in the entertainment world!

・ How did you first get into gaming?

When I was in the lower grades of elementary school, I was hospitalized for a few days. My grandmother bought me a Game Boy and "Mario." I think that's when I first encountered games, playing on that gray, four-battery Game Boy during my free time in the hospital.

・ Do you have any memories of playing games with your family?

Since childhood, my family and I used to play "Puyo Puyo." Also, my father had a job where he left home for work before I woke up and returned after I went to sleep. But when I set a record in "Mario Kart" time attack, he would break my record while I was asleep. I wanted to beat him, so I'd play again during the day, and after I went to bed, he'd break my record again. This went on for days. We didn't talk much directly, but I feel like we built a relationship through playing games, even without much conversation. It's a nice story, I wish an indie game would be made about it (laughs)!

・ How do you spend your days off?

When I wake up in the morning, I play one match of "Pokémon UNITE" in bed before I start my day with coffee. I also went with my group member Tamamori to Akihabara to buy a gaming PC. We bought a pretty good one, and now I play games like "Genshin Impact" on it. "Genshin Impact" is such a mathematical game, isn't it? There are so many calculations and multiplications involved, so I really enjoy that time thinking about those things.

・ Do you feel that gaming expands your circle of friends?

Yes, I really do. People who love games, and nowadays there are so many games you can play online together. I feel like my circle of friends has expanded through those things. I often play "Monster Hunter" with my group member Tamamori. I'm not very good at FPS games, but he told me "Let's play!" so I tried "Apex Legends." I tend to get taken out early (laughs), so often I'm just watching Tamamori play. I watch him and think, "Tamamori is amazing," like a girlfriend watching her boyfriend play a game. It's fun just to watch.

・ This year marks the 30th anniversary of Tokyo Game Show, and Kis-My-Ft2 is also celebrating its 15th anniversary. How do you feel about being appointed Official Supporter in this commemorative year?

We're only halfway there, but I'm very happy that our anniversaries overlap. Above all, it's truly amazing that it has continued for 30 years, so I want to offer my sincere congratulations.
