Rendering of the 'Takayama Community Center' after renovation completion

Yanmar Symbiosis Co., Ltd., a group company of Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd., will begin facility operations on July 1, 2026, as the designated manager of the 'Takayama Community Center' in Toyonaka Town, Osaka Prefecture. The company is currently renovating the Takayama Community Center and improving surrounding areas to serve as a landmark for a project aimed at promoting exchange between urban areas and Toyonaka Town and addressing regional challenges. The project, named 'A SYMBIOSIS VILLAGE by YANMAR,' is scheduled to launch in spring 2027.

The 'Takayama Community Center' is a public facility utilizing the former Toyonaka Town-run Takayama Elementary School and Takayama Kindergarten, both of which have long served as beloved hubs for the local community. Located approximately 40 minutes by car from central Osaka, the area features rich natural landscapes, terraced rice fields, and is known as the birthplace of Christian feudal lord 'Takayama Ukon,' making it a popular gathering place for residents. Additionally, the site functions as an officially designated evacuation center during disasters and includes space for emergency doctor helicopter landings, serving as a vital infrastructure hub for community safety and protection.

Yanmar has previously operated experiential farming programs in the Takayama area of Toyonaka Town, building strong community ties, and on March 31, 2026, signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement to address regional challenges. In this project, Yanmar will apply its technological expertise and knowledge cultivated in the fields of food and energy to tackle issues facing the Takayama area, such as depopulation, aging demographics, and increasing abandoned farmland. The former elementary school buildings will undergo extensive renovation, and surrounding areas will be utilized to revitalize the local community.

Moving forward, Yanmar Group will leverage its accumulated expertise in agricultural solar power generation, regenerative agriculture, and land-based aquaculture to launch initiatives centered on exchange, experiential activities, food, and agriculture that make use of local resources. Facilities including exhibition spaces showcasing local culture, woodworking and farming experience zones, a café, retail areas, and a school to train future agricultural talent will be sequentially developed.
