What if children who are often told "You play too many games..." could turn their "likes" into learning?
This is an announcement for the "Roblox English Creative Special Course" to be held this summer by Magna English School, an online English school operated by Mintflag Inc., the company that planned, developed, and operates the AI English app "Magna and the Mysterious Girl," born from that very idea.
"Roblox," the game platform that captivates children worldwide. This platform, played by 4.8 billion people monthly in over 200 countries, has a major appeal not just for "playing" but for being able to "create" your own games.
In this course, children will create their own game worlds (metaverses) while engaging in English conversation under the guidance of bilingual English instructors. Using popular templates such as obstacle athletic courses (Obby) and car race tracks, they can fully experience the "joy of creating" and the "happiness of communicating in English" over three days.
The key point is that English becomes a "tool" rather than "study." They will communicate their ideas to the teacher in English, saying "I want to do this here," and show their creations to friends. Each of these interactions leads to real-life English communication.
Two teachers will guide the children's creative activities
- Mr. Hidetoshi Yamauchi (Visiting Professor, Shizuoka University) - A specialist in programming education with over 5 years of experience in Roblox educational material development. He will support children's "learning through creation" as the curriculum supervisor for this course.
- Elena-sensei (Main Instructor) - A quadrilingual native instructor fluent in four languages. Connecting via Zoom from Europe, she will conduct lessons in English, focusing on each child individually.

A message from Takashi Katayama, Representative of Mintflag
Roblox is a service launched in 2004 by its two founders, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel. Someday – we dream of a world-changer like them emerging from the children who learn English at Magna, our "Magna Family." It would be wonderful if these three days this summer could be one small spark for that.

What is Magna's Online English School?
Operated by Mintflag, the developer of the highly popular app "Magna and the Mysterious Girl" with over 450,000 users, where English improves just by playing.
(Magna Method)
One-on-one coaching with your dedicated English professional coach. From elementary school students to adults, coaches flexibly adapt to your English proficiency, allowing you to learn English at your own pace while enjoying yourself with Magna. All coaches are bilingual Japanese coaches, so even beginners or young elementary school students can participate without worry.
(Magna Party)
A group online English conversation class where children enjoy English conversation with native and bilingual Japanese instructors as a W team. (Only for elementary school students at the time of enrollment).
Alternating between input and output training every two weeks, while also learning grammar necessary for English conversation, this class ensures solid English acquisition, unlike online English conversation schools that simply end with fun conversation.
(Magna Eiken Challenge)
Magna's Eiken (English Proficiency Test) preparation school, which opened last year. Since its opening, it has been very popular among elementary school students and others wishing to take the Eiken test, primarily Magna app users. The school as a whole boasts a pass rate of over 80%, and particularly for Eiken Grade 4 and 5, the pass rate is close to 90%. While there are impressive achievements, such as elementary school students passing Eiken Grade 2 and Pre-1, the Magna Eiken School's characteristic is that the instructors, along with the students and their parents, foster the mindset of challenging the Eiken test.
