It features a wide range of content, including how to make highballs more enjoyable at home, comparative reviews, recommendations for whiskeys, and distillery reports. The channel offers content that can be enjoyed by both beginners and enthusiasts, suggesting encounters with "the next bottle you'll want to drink." It's a channel filled with tips for enjoying alcohol deliciously and fun, rather than discussing it in a complicated way.

Thoughts on Choosing This Cask:

This time, I wanted to convey the deliciousness of refill sherry casks, which have been seasoned by the spirit multiple times, rather than the rich, first-fill sherry cask type. I consulted with Distillery Manager Callum about this.

The theme is "Glenfarclas with Shining Softness."

I toured several warehouses with members of the distillery, including owner family member Duncan Grant. I vividly recall how my heart was warmed by the sweetness of the refill sherry casks shining in the freezing warehouses and the high quality of Glenfarclas's spirit.

After examining dozens of samples from refill sherry hogshead casks, I selected from the final two.

I hope that as many people as possible can enjoy this carefully selected Glenfarclas, which I chose by visiting the distillery myself.

Tasting Notes by Sergio:

Color: Deep amber with reddish hues.

Nose: Ester-like and floral aroma, with a rich, sweet scent that expands. Floral notes reminiscent of purple flowers, a roasted aroma like hojicha, adzuki beans, and smoked raisins. The sherry cask influence is not too strong, giving it a華やか (hanayaka - gorgeous/brilliant) and elegant impression.

Palate: Despite being a spirit aged for 10 years in a refill sherry cask, it has volume and provides satisfaction with its high proof of 60.9%. Sweetness reminiscent of black tea and raisins.

Finish: From the mid-palate to the finish,華やか (hanayaka - gorgeous/brilliant) aromas like white and purple flowers overlap, with a rich and long-lasting fruity finish.

Recommended Way to Drink: Straight, with a small amount of water.

Glenfarclas's Commitment:

◆ Premium Spring Water and Peat-Free Malt

The water used for Glenfarclas is pure spring water from the Benrinnes mountain, the highest peak in Speyside, located behind the distillery. They have their own water source halfway up the mountain, ensuring a stable supply of high-quality spring water. The malt used as raw material is peat-free malt, meaning no peat is used at all.

◆ 100% Direct-Fired Distillation

What they consistently insist on is direct-fired distillation using gas burners, which is extremely rare nowadays. Although they experimented with more efficient and economical indirect heating in the past, they concluded that it did not bring out Glenfarclas's unique character and have continued with traditional direct-fired distillation. Currently, three sets of six large-sized spherical direct-fired stills are in operation in Speyside.

◆ Sherry Cask Maturation

Alongside direct-fired distillation, their strong commitment is to maturation in Oloroso sherry casks. Although sherry casks are expensive, they exclusively use sherry casks for maturation, never just for finishing. They skillfully utilize spirits from 1st fill to 4th fill to express the diverse charms of sherry cask single malts.

◆ Dumpy Style Warehouses

The style of their warehouses has remained unchanged for over 100 years. As of 2026, all 48 warehouses are low-lying "dumpy" style, attached to the distillery, storing approximately 80,000 casks. Due to the influence of the wind blowing from Benrinnes mountain, the "angel's share" is very small, and maturation proceeds slowly. The source of Glenfarclas's unique character lies in its unwavering commitment to its maturation environment.
