HIRAC FUND, operated by Money Forward Venture Partners Co., Ltd., a group company of Money Forward, Inc., has invested in Mofuku Rescue Co., Ltd., which operates the unmanned, 24-hour rental service for mourning attire, 'Mofuku Rescue.' This investment was made through the HIRAC FUND No. 3.

Background of Investment

In Japan, the actual number of deaths is on an increasing trend due to the aging population*. Furthermore, with changes in lifestyles, funeral formats such as family funerals and one-day funerals are diversifying. Amidst this, traditional methods of obtaining mourning attire have been primarily 'purchase' or 'online rental,' presenting challenges in times of mourning, including time constraints due to business hours, size mismatches due to the inability to try on, and the economic burden of infrequent use.

Mofuku Rescue, the company that received the investment, is a startup that operates the unmanned, 24-hour, 365-day rental service for mourning attire, 'Mofuku Rescue.' Through advance reservations and payments via smartphone, they have established a unique system that allows customers to complete the entire process from trying on to taking the attire home without meeting anyone. By providing an environment where people can prepare with peace of mind without worrying about time, they offer a service that alleviates the psychological burden of those facing sudden mourning and supports the final moments with loved ones.

HIRAC FUND decided to invest in the company, highly valuing the following points:

- A business model that is extremely compatible with mourning attire, a product requiring urgency, offering on-site try-ons and immediate rentals through an 'unmanned store format.'

- The management team's excellent drive and execution capabilities, demonstrated by expanding to approximately seven times the number of stores in two years, with 22 stores nationwide as of July 2026, showing high reproducibility in multi-store expansion in a short period.

- The strength of their customer experience, evidenced by very high evaluations from users through Google reviews and feedback notebooks available in each store.

Moving forward, HIRAC FUND will provide full support for the company to expand nationwide as a next-generation social infrastructure supporting sudden mourning, through introductions to regional financial institutions and other networks, as well as support for fundraising and collaboration.
