Hotel New Akao to Open Summer Tradition "Ocean Pool" Integrated with the Sea from July 1

Hotel New Akao (Location: Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, General Manager: Toru Kume, hereinafter referred to as "the hotel") will begin operations of its summer-only natural seawater pool, "Ocean Pool," a summer tradition, from July 1, 2026 (Wed).

The hotel, leveraging its unique location built over the sea, offers a wide range of marine activities such as SUP and kayaking that can be enjoyed year-round. This summer, a new "Underwater Scooter Snorkeling Experience Tour" will be introduced. Furthermore, the "Main Dining Nishiki Terrace Area," an outdoor dining space that opened on June 1, is directly connected to the activity base, allowing guests to seamlessly enjoy meals immediately after coming out of the sea.

Despite being easily accessible within approximately 1 hour from Tokyo by Shinkansen, all necessary equipment for marine activities is included in the plan, and rental items are also plentiful, making it possible to enjoy authentic sea activities "without bringing anything." With its excellent location and convenience, we will deliver an even more fulfilling summer stay experience this year.

Hotel New Akao's Summer Tradition, Natural Sea Pool "Ocean Pool"

The "Ocean Pool," created by sectioning off the sea in front of the hotel, is a representative summer-only facility of our hotel, offering an overwhelming sense of openness as if integrated with Sagami Bay. Located amidst the dynamic scenery surrounded by the cliffs of the scenic spot Nishikigaura, you can enjoy a unique sea bathing experience.

Guests can move underwater simply by operating the handlebars, allowing even those who are not confident swimmers to comfortably explore the world of beautiful fish.

【Hotel New Akao】

A resort hotel located in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with a location facing the sea. Built on the cliffs of Atami's Nishikigaura, which was certified as a Japan Geopark in 2012, all guest rooms offer ocean views, providing a breathtaking panorama of the sea. In December 2022, it reopened as "Hotel New Akao" as it was at the time of its original opening. On July 1, 2023, the 250 guest rooms of the former Hotel New Akao (Ocean Wing), the Main Dining Nishiki, and other facilities reopened, marking the complete revival of Atami's symbol, "Hotel New Akao." Preserving its history, the lobby was renovated in November 2024, creating a new front entrance for the hotel. The lobby shop, selling popular hotel logo merchandise, also opened at the Ocean Wing's front, which features a Showa-era retro atmosphere. Furthermore, starting April 2026, renovations are being carried out in stages to enhance the quality of the stay experience itself.
