Victor Entertainment, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Akira Ono) is pleased to announce its participation in "Licensing Japan 2026," Japan's largest specialized exhibition for the licensing industry, to be held from Wednesday, June 17 to Friday, June 19, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight.
Victor Entertainment, Inc. is a record company celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2027. In addition to its music business, in recent years, the company has focused on planning, manufacturing, and selling merchandise utilizing its in-house IP, the iconic Victor dog "Nipper," and has been holding pop-up shops in various locations.
Furthermore, "Pal-chan and Her Friends," popular illustrations that once adorned the jackets of Victor children's songs, will be introduced as a new IP. These charming illustrations, which caught the eye when flipping through magazines in the Showa era, feature characters drawn by the leading illustrator of that time, Maria Abe, specifically for the Victor children's song series. These characters are now being revived in the Reiwa era.
At this year's "Licensing Japan," Victor Entertainment will distribute leaflets introducing the appeal of "Nipper" and "Pal-chan and Her Friends," and will also exhibit Nipper merchandise.

The original painting for the Victor mark was created in 1889 by the British painter Francis Barraud. Francis's brother, Mark H. Barraud, cherished a very intelligent Fox Terrier named "Nipper." After Mark's death, Francis took in Nipper along with his brother's son and raised the dog. By chance, when Nipper was played a recording of his late master's voice on a gramophone at home, the dog cocked its ears attentively in front of the horn, seemingly captivated by his beloved master's voice. Francis, deeply moved by Nipper's posture, immediately took up his brush and painted a picture. The gramophone at the time was a cylinder-type model capable of recording and playback, but it was later changed to a disc type. He titled the painting "His Master's Voice."
Nipper's endearing image, listening nostalgically to his deceased master's voice, deeply impressed Berliner, the inventor of the disc gramophone. He registered this famous painting as a trademark in 1900. Since then, this historic mark has been deeply trusted and loved by the public as a symbol of the highest technology and quality.
