Hacobell Launches 'AI Data Converter' to Automate Logistics Document Entry

Hacobell, with its mission to "invent the future of logistics," has announced the launch of the "AI Data Converter," a system designed to automate logistics document data entry using generative AI.

During the beta phase of this system, the company achieved an 80% reduction in time spent on document data entry for its transportation arrangement matching service.

"AI Data Converter" is a web system that automatically reads information from "forms" and "documents" exchanged between business partners via fax and other means in logistics operations, and then organizes and converts the data into CSV format.

Users simply upload documents received from partners to output data in a CSV format with customizable column settings. (Paper documents, such as faxes, must be converted into PDF or image data via scanning.)

Specialized for logistics operations, it features four key points:

Feature 1: Supports industry-specific and shipper-unique formats, such as calendar formats.
It can interpret non-linguistic forms and highly abbreviated formats, such as "a circle on a calendar date indicating the loading date" and "the closest V mark indicating the unloading date," and process them as data.

Feature 2: Designed for data integration, supporting completion of missing information and format correction.
"AI Data Converter" implements functions for matching master data and filling in fixed values. This replaces the need for humans to interpret and correct missing information previously overlooked in documents. It can handle information that is "implicitly omitted from forms but essential for data management," or consolidate multiple items from a shipper's form into a single item on the receiver's side.

Feature 3: AI automatically assigns items, eliminating the need to adjust read locations.
With traditional OCR, users had to specify where to read information from in each form, such as "this part is for loading location" or "this part is for vehicle type," which was a burden for implementation. Additionally, some information, like "weight" sometimes meaning "vehicle type," cannot be captured just by replacing items. "AI Data Converter" identifies the "meaning" of information in logistics operations, allowing for smooth introduction without the need for manual adjustments.

Feature 4: Supports integration with backbone systems and WMS via CSV output.
"AI Data Converter" organizes and converts data into CSV, facilitating data integration between systems. This reduces the burden of additional development for system integration, allowing companies with limited budgets to combine the best systems and tools for their operations and realize DX effortlessly.
