On June 1, 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's birth, Blancpain announced the 'Ladybird Tribute.' This is a capsule collection consisting of seven unique items that reinterpret the design of a jewelry watch worn by the iconic Hollywood star, which was acquired by the brand in 2016.
Seven watches. Seven colors. Seven letters. "M. A. R. I. L. Y. N."
The Blancpain watch worn by Marilyn Monroe lay dormant for a long time before re-emerging at a Julien's Auctions sale in 2016. As part of the estate of Lee Strasberg, the piece was acquired by Blancpain for its workshops in Le Brassus.
Produced around the late 1940s to early 1950s, the piece belongs to the pure American Art Deco category. Its elongated rectangular case evokes New York architecture. It features platinum 950, 71 brilliant-cut diamonds, two marquise-cut diamonds, and the double safety chain characteristic of that era.
The new 'Ladybird Tribute' faithfully inherits the features of the original. Each piece features one letter of the name "MARILYN" engraved on the case back, and is paired with one of seven limited colors of double-wrap calf straps. This is more than a revival; it communicates the intimate relationship she held with her personal objects to the present day.
