Good Time Living Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Jun Kawai) held the 4th 'Old Age Day' Photo Contest to coincide with 'Rougo no Hi' (established by the Kobe City Association of Elderly Welfare Facilities) on June 5th. With the cooperation of photographer Yusuke Fujioka (Yasashii Shashin Co., Ltd.), nine excellent works were nominated from 997 entries, and one was selected for the 'Good Time Grand Prize.'
This contest has been held since 2023 with the goal of helping seniors and their families view their later years positively and live brightly through photos that capture the lively expressions of seniors in Japan's super-aging society. The Grand Prize is announced annually on June 5th.
The winners were determined by a total of 1,013 votes from residents of nursing homes and senior apartments operated by Good Time Living, their families, and company employees.
The theme for this year was 'Your Good Time!' Photos capturing daily life with seniors and memories of 'nursing care' were submitted by a wide range of age groups, from teens to those in their 90s. Participants shared comments such as 'I want to spend a positive and fun old age' and 'My gratitude toward my family has deepened.'
'Rougo no Hi' was established by the Kobe City Association of Elderly Welfare Facilities, with the slogan 'The vitality of the elderly is the vitality of the youth and society.' The date is a pun on '6' and '5' (Rou-go).
