Kumanote Co., Ltd. (Nerima-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideyuki Kumagai) is pleased to announce the '1RIN' (pronounced ichirin) vase inspired by the number '1', with pre-sales starting on Makuake from June 8, 2026.

The '1RIN' is a product born from the '1' in 'ichirin-sashi' (single-flower vase). Although each is the same '1', the expression varies depending on the material, technique, and craftsman. By choosing your favorite '1RIN' according to your space or mood and displaying just one flower, you can add a small touch of color to your daily life.

In the first series, we have created different '1's that leverage the techniques and materials of Hasamiyaki, Takaoka copperware, and Yakumo bear carving, working with craftspeople from each tradition. Each '1RIN' comes with a 'letter' detailing the craftsman, production area, and background of the product.

All are approximately 111mm in height, with the dimension hinting at the number '1'.

First series: Three regional craftsmen

Hasamiyaki | A graceful '1' that blends into daily life

With a background of over 400 years of porcelain-making in Hasami, Nagasaki, this 1RIN naturally fits into everyday spaces. Its clean shape and the quiet texture unique to porcelain enhance the presence of a single flower. In addition to plain white, a 'penguin' pattern by illustrator Naoko Kumagai is also available.

Takaoka Copperware | A weighty '1' that matures with time

This bronze 1RIN is crafted using Takaoka's casting techniques in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. We aimed for a piece that retains the material's expression and undulations, gradually gaining flavor with use. Each is a one-of-a-kind vase, crafted by hand with no two exactly alike.

Craftsman: Heiwa Gokin Co., Ltd. Production area: Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture

Yakumo Bear Carving | A handcrafted '1' with carved expression

This 1RIN utilizes the Yakumo bear carving technique passed down in Yakumo-cho, Hokkaido. Rather than reproducing a bear itself, we incorporated carving techniques such as hair carving and surface carving into the simple '1' shape. Each vase expresses the individuality of the artist, like a small art piece.

Delivering the craftsman's story with a 'letter'

Each '1RIN' comes with a 'letter' describing the craftsman, production area, and manufacturing background. By understanding the background of the product, the user's attachment deepens, making it something they will cherish for a long time.

'1RIN' is not only a vessel for flowers but also a product that offers an encounter with craftsmanship from various parts of Japan.

Pre-sale on Makuake

'1RIN' pre-sales begin on Makuake from June 8, 2026. On Makuake, we plan to offer the Hasamiyaki, Takaoka copperware, and Yakumo bear carving models, as well as a special gift set and 1RIN art cards.
