Mercure Tokyo Hibiya (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Michiteru Suzuki) is pleased to announce the launch of an afternoon tea themed around the classic ballet masterpiece "Swan Lake," supervised by The Tokyo Ballet, along with a special exhibition by Chacott, starting July 17 (Fri).
In line with Mercure's brand concept of being a French hotel brand that values allowing guests to experience local inspiration, Mercure Tokyo Hibiya, born in Hibiya, a sacred ground for stage culture, has adopted "Stage Art" as its design concept, expressing this esprit throughout the hotel.
At the restaurant, Cafe & Bar "La Seine," where a large object representing the trajectory of "Etoile," top dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet, dancing on stage, watches over from the ceiling, we will be offering an afternoon tea themed around "Swan Lake," the second in our series of Tchaikovsky's three major ballets, following last year's "The Nutcracker."
This afternoon tea will feature a wide lineup of sweets that allow you to enjoy the world of The Tokyo Ballet's Bourmeister version of "Swan Lake" along with the individuality of the characters, white savories expressing the serene stillness of the lake, a limited-edition refreshing light blue drink, and more, all served with free-flow beverages. A special display by Chacott will brilliantly adorn the space, delivering a unique summer experience that stimulates the five senses.
Kanako Oki (Principal, The Tokyo Ballet), who will be playing Odette/Odile in The Tokyo Ballet's "Swan Lake" in September, has been appointed as the official ambassador for the afternoon tea. She will be promoting the charm of this afternoon tea.

Kanako Oki, Principal of The Tokyo Ballet and official ambassador for this afternoon tea, commented:
"Each and every sweet, savory, and drink incorporates swans, the lake, and scenes from the story, making me feel as if I'm watching a performance. Not only is the beautiful white-based visual appealing, but the flavors are also thoughtfully crafted, allowing enjoyment of both appearance and taste. Please enjoy an afternoon tea that fully captures the magical and elegant charm of 'Swan Lake.'"

Display Overview
During the afternoon tea period, a special display by Chacott will be held in the 1st-floor lobby and on restaurant tables.
The lobby will feature a sophisticated installation art that fuses the beautiful and delicate costume of Odette, the protagonist of "Swan Lake," with paper art by nekonekodesign PAPER ARTS.
On the restaurant tables, small, palm-sized original mini tutus made by Chacott, evoking the image of delicate dancing ballerinas, will be displayed.
Chacott's commitment to craftsmanship, deeply pursuing the texture of each feather and the transparency of the tulle, invites immersion into the story.
Furthermore, actual stage art from The Tokyo Ballet's Bourmeister version of "Swan Lake" will be presented on panels at the tables where afternoon tea is served, allowing guests to enjoy the afternoon tea with the realism of the stage.
About The Tokyo Ballet's Bourmeister Version of "Swan Lake"
While numerous choreographies and productions of "Swan Lake" exist, the Bourmeister version is exclusively licensed to The Tokyo Ballet in Japan. Once you see this version, you might find other versions lacking! It is a magnificent production full of highlights that captivate the audience.
If the "world of white" is characterized by the graceful ensemble of swans led by the tragic heroine Princess Odette, then the contrasting "world of black" is the ballroom in Act 3, the greatest feature and charm of the Bourmeister version! The dance of the various national dancers, led by the demon Rothbart and the Black Swan Odile, to trap the prince, is filled with a mysterious beauty and powerful energy.
This enchanting stage is adorned by dancers at the peak of their beauty. From acclaimed established dancers to rising stars making their role debuts, and even glamorous guests, the ballet company presents its strongest and finest lineup with the entire company performing.
