Accor, one of the world's largest hospitality groups based in Paris, France (Japanese subsidiary: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan Representative Director: Dean Daniels), will launch seasonal menus, "Global Street Food" and "Three Authentic Curries," based on the fundamental concept of "Grand Mercure / Mercure Marche" at the dinner buffets offered at 21 Grand Mercure and Mercure hotels, starting May 18, 2026.
Grand Mercure / Mercure Marche Summer Buffet to overcome the long, hot season
In recent years, Japanese summers have transformed into a "long season," lasting from May to October in some regions. At "Grand Mercure / Mercure Marche," early summer, mid-summer heat, and late summer are considered a continuous "summer season." They will offer dishes that provide energy to overcome the heat, based on two themes: "Global Street Food" and "Three Authentic Curries." This year's summer buffet will include features to "choose," "combine," and "customize," creating an exciting atmosphere like attending a family festival.
Theme 1: "Global Street Food" inspired by a family-friendly festival
"Street food" can be easily eaten without chopsticks or cutlery. We have gathered popular flavors from street stalls around the world. Even with the same menu, you can enjoy various "taste variations" with different sauces and seasonings. It is a family-friendly Marche that combines the joy of choosing, picking up, and customizing.
* Takoyaki (Japan) A representative Japanese street food menu. It is recommended as a light meal for children, but by combining it with ponzu, mentaiko mayonnaise, salsa sauce, cheese sauce, or guacamole, it also makes a great snack for adults. * Falafel (Israel and other Middle Eastern countries) Falafel has a croquette-like texture, made by mashing chickpeas and deep-frying them. Along with vegetable fritters, you can enjoy various flavor changes with different dipping sauces such as guacamole, salsa, and mustard. * Various French Fries (Various countries) We offer various shapes of French fries, a favorite of children. You can also season them to your liking with flavors like norishio (seaweed and salt) or butter soy sauce. * Tapioca Drinks and Sweets (Taiwan and others) You can create original tapioca drinks and parfaits by combining soft drinks from the buffet's drink corner with soft-serve ice cream, cereals, and more. * Taiyaki (Japan) * Churros (Spain) * Egg Tart (Portugal)
Theme 2: "Three Authentic Curries" to overcome summer with spicy dishes
Three types of popular curries, already familiar in Japan, will be featured. Accompaniments for the curries include Tandoori Chicken, naan, butter rice, duo rice, tortillas, and baguettes, which can be freely combined. Additionally, a spice corner is set up where you can add various spices to customize your preferred level of spiciness and flavor.
* Butter Chicken Curry A curry that harmonizes the richness of butter with the acidity of tomatoes. It is recommended to pair it with Tandoori Chicken and warm vegetables from the buffet, or to wrap Tandoori Chicken in naan or tortillas, and drizzle a little Butter Chicken Curry over it. * Green Curry A curry with a mellow sweetness of coconut and the aroma of green chili and herbs. It is recommended to pour it over "duo rice," a combination of wild rice with its unique popping texture and fragrant basmati rice, and pair it with warm vegetables. * Hotel Original Curry Each hotel's head chef has created an original curry. For example, "Grand Mercure Lake Biwa Resort & Spa" offers a curry using Omi beef, incorporating local ingredients.
* Tandoori Chicken Chicken marinated in yogurt and several spices, then roasted until fragrant. It features a deep aroma of spices and a moist texture.
* Spice Corner A corner filled with "extra spices" such as garlic powder, cayenne pepper, chili powder, coriander powder, and oil infused with Badouvan (a spice blend originating from South India). You can try adding spiciness or changing the flavor to find your preferred taste.
Other Recommended Dinner Buffet Menu Items (Year-round)
