(Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideaki Nika; hereinafter "Nissan Securities"), established in 1948, has established a system for in-house development and operation of its business system for the fixed-yield asset management service "YIELD FUND". Nissan Securities has created an environment where it can develop, modify, and operate systems under its own initiative in the financial industry, where legal amendments, system changes, security enhancements, and new service deployments occur continuously. The foundation for this is the low-code development tool "Zoho Creator". We will introduce this as a practical case study of in-house development by a financial institution, covering response to security requirements, rapid adaptation to legal changes, and even system reuse for new services.
Background
The financial industry continuously faces demands for system adaptations due to legal amendments, guideline revisions, and strengthening security requirements. On the other hand, when collaborating with external vendors for such changes, adjustments and development efforts are required for each modification, and development investment can become a hurdle for commercialization when launching new services. Furthermore, in recent years, security requirement updates have accelerated, with financial authorities calling for expanded adoption of multi-factor authentication (MFA) for internet transactions. In such an environment, having a system that can quickly implement necessary modifications and feature additions in response to legal amendments and security requirement changes has become a critical management issue for financial institutions. In response to these challenges, Nissan Securities chose in-house development using low-code, coinciding with the launch of "YIELD FUND" in 2023. Since then, they have been proceeding with legal compliance, security enhancements, and new service deployments under their own initiative, and their approximately three-year efforts are the background to this announcement.
In-house Development of "YIELD FUND"
In 2023, upon the launch of the "YIELD FUND" service, Nissan Securities developed the business system, including customer information management, customer "My Page," and account opening pages, in-house using Zoho Creator. The reason for choosing in-house development was not limited to cost reduction. It included the ability to proceed with responses to legal amendments and service changes based on their own judgment rather than relying on external parties, and to have a system capable of continuous improvement and modification even after release. The fundamental motivation for in-house development was to incorporate these prerequisites for business operations from the outset.
Security Measures
Nissan Securities implements the security measures required for financial services under its own initiative. A secure login environment exclusively for customers protects the information of approximately 1,000 portal users, reducing the risk of screen display errors and information leakage. Furthermore, Zoho Creator is being adapted to support multi-factor authentication (MFA) and passkey authentication, creating an environment that can continuously respond to the strengthening of authentication infrastructure demanded by financial authorities. The safety of these measures has been confirmed through penetration tests conducted by an external company before the service release.
Response to Legal Amendments
In response to the amendment of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act in 2024, Nissan Securities completed modifications to customer-facing screens for cooling-off provisions required for "YIELD FUND" with its own judgment and speed, without relying on external vendors. The ability to respond while reducing lead time and costs for modifications is a substantial strength in continuous service operation. In the financial industry, where legal amendments and guideline reviews are expected to continue, this self-directed modification system serves as the foundation for Nissan Securities' continuous service operation.
Deployment to New Services
In 2026, Nissan Securities released the precious metal deposit services "Gold Banking" and "Platinum Banking." The system development for these services utilized the Zoho Creator system built for "YIELD FUND" as a template, significantly improving development efficiency. Since the established in-house development platform can be repurposed for subsequent services, the in-house development infrastructure utilizing Zoho Creator now plays a crucial role as a business platform for Nissan Securities to rapidly deploy new financial services.
