Zeon Corporation and Zeon Opto Bio Lab Receive the FY2025 'Technology Award' from the Society for Chemistry and Micro-Nano Systems

Zeon Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Tetsuya Toyoshima, hereinafter 'Zeon') and its group company Zeon Opto Bio Lab Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, President: Hiroya Nishioka) have recently received the 'Technology Award' for FY 2025 from the Society for Chemistry and Micro-Nano Systems (CHEMINAS)*.

The Society for Chemistry and Micro-Nano Systems offers four awards: the 'Society Award,' 'Incentive Award,' 'Young Researcher Excellence Award,' and 'Technology Award.' The 'Technology Award' received is granted to individuals or groups who have conducted outstanding technological development (products, experimental equipment, methods, etc.) related to chemistry and micro-nano systems. The award was presented to the recipients by the society president at the award ceremony of the 53rd research meeting.

[Award Theme] Development of precision processing technology, prototyping, and mass production technology for microfluidic devices using cyclo-olefin polymer (COP)

[Features of the Awarded Initiative] It is a pioneering initiative integrating materials science and microfabrication technology, contributing to academic research and industrial applications.

The cyclo-olefin polymer material possesses excellent chemical resistance and transparency, making it suitable for fluorescence observation and spectroscopic analysis. Furthermore, as it exhibits low impurities and low elution, it ensures high safety and reliability for biological samples and medical components.

High-precision processing is possible in small-lot production through cutting and thermocompression molding of microfluidic devices, as well as in mass production using injection molding, realizing a smooth transition from the research stage to mass production.

It is a great honor for our company that this initiative has been highly evaluated, leading to the receipt of the Technology Award. Zeon will continue to contribute to a safe and comfortable life for people through the development of original technologies.
