During the Salone del Mobile in Milan from April 21 to 26, Zara will showcase an immersive installation titled "Calma." Set within a Neoclassical building, this installation offers an experience that is both soothing and sensory. As Milan transforms into a city of constant activity and stimulation during this period, Calma serves as a quiet sanctuary away from the urban bustle. Located within Parco Sempione, the city's largest park, a 19th-century structure complements its serene surroundings.

Presented at Palazzina Appiani, this installation is a reinterpretation of the spatial and social structures of ancient Roman baths (thermae) as a modern retreat. Rather than focusing on visual spectacle, it consists of a series of spaces designed to calm the perceptions and align consciousness.

The installation unfolds through a sequence of spaces: the entrance, the corridor, the central hall, and the outdoor loggia (colonnade). Visitors pass through areas subtly orchestrated with light, reflections, and sound. Mirrored arches expand the architecture while blurring its outlines. Brushed metal surfaces capture and softly diffuse light. Furthermore, an acoustic backdrop—layering contemporary arrangements of Italian classical music with ambient sounds—envelops guests in a serene and continuous atmosphere.

The building was originally designed for Napoleon, his family, and the court, conceived as an exclusive space separate from public noise. The architecture features clean axes and opens onto the surrounding park. Realized in partnership with the renowned Crosby Studios, the installation "Calma" brings moments of rest and introspection.

"Calma explores the concept of transformism, reinterpreting the ritualistic and spatial experiences of ancient Roman baths into modern wellness. By combining space, light, and materials, it encourages visitors to pause, face themselves, and surrender to a sense of peaceful tranquility. Throughout the flow of the exhibition, we propose a space that offers a contemporary sanctuary," says Crosby Studios.

"Calma" by Zara will be held from April 21 to 26.
