Import of new maison "AJ VAONA" established by the daughter and son-in-law of Vosne-Romanée's prestigious Mongeard-Mugneret begins. A tasting event will be held in Meguro, Tokyo on July 15 (Wed).

Yuka Selections LLC (Headquarters: Shibaura, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Yuka Miyama) is pleased to announce that it will begin importing wines as the official agent for "AJ VAONA," a new maison established in 2022 by the daughter and son-in-law of the prestigious Mongeard-Mugneret family of Vosne-Romanée.

About AJ VAONA

A new maison was born in 2022 in the highly sought-after Vosne-Romanée appellation, where rising land prices have made new entries almost impossible. This is "AJ VAONA," founded by Justine, the daughter of the prestigious Mongeard-Mugneret family, and her husband, Alexandre.

As the daughter of a renowned winemaking family, Justine grew up surrounded by wine production from a young age. Her husband, Alexandre, has a background that includes working at Maison Nicolas Potel and serving for many years as the right-hand man to Vincent Mongeard, the head of the Mongeard family, overseeing the core of cultivation and winemaking. Alexandre's experience as head of cultivation and winemaking, coupled with his deep love for sharing wine, and Justine's pride in being born into a family of representative producers in Vosne-Romanée, are brought together as they launch AJ VAONA.

The maison's name is derived from the couple's initials "A" and "J," and the ancient Gallic name for the village, "Vaona." The name embodies their desire to pass on the charm of this region to the future.

Currently, they primarily produce wines using grapes from the Mongeard family vineyards. Their lineup includes village and premier cru wines from appellations such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits. Grand Cru selections include Clos de la Roche, Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, and Chambertin.

They also release impressive labels from the Beaune region, including Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.

This marks the first import to Japan, featuring a total of 13 types of white and red wines. At the tasting event on July 15, six of these, including Grand Crus, will be introduced. Those wishing to attend are requested to review the details below and apply in advance.
