Centralized Management of Student Device Usage: Learning e-Portal "L-Gate" Terminal Management Ledger Service Integrates with MDM "mobiconnect"

Inventit Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Atsuhito Suzuki; hereinafter "Inventit") announces that its mobile device management (MDM) service "mobiconnect" has integrated with the "Terminal Management Ledger Service," an optional service of the learning e-portal "L-Gate" provided by Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Noboru Okubo; hereinafter "Uchida Yoko"). This integration allows for the combined management of device information acquired by "mobiconnect" and user information managed by "L-Gate." This will make it easier for educational institutions to understand the usage status of devices by students and lead to more efficient device management. With the "GIGA School Concept (Note 1)" promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), a one-device-per-student environment has been established in schools nationwide, accelerating the utilization of ICT in education. At such times, understanding "which student is using which device" is extremely important for device management. On the other hand, device management and the acquisition of device information in educational settings are generally performed by management systems such as MDM. This has led to a situation where user information and device information are managed in separate systems, making it difficult to comprehensively grasp which student is using which device. This has become a burden on the ground for daily operations such as device redistribution and checking usage status. (Note 1) An initiative by MEXT, launched in 2019, to provide one computer and high-speed network per student nationwide. "L-Gate" is a learning e-portal provided by Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd., a service that supports daily learning and operation/management using one device and one account per student. It is also compatible with the MEXT CBT system (MEXCBT) and is used for national academic achievement and learning status surveys. It has a management function for user information (user ID) developed under the GIGA School Concept and can be linked with learning services such as digital textbooks and drill materials. It supports flexible operation tailored to the environment of education boards and schools. The "Terminal Management Ledger Service," a paid optional service of "L-Gate," supports ledger management of PCs and tablets by linking user IDs registered in "L-Gate" with information from device management systems (MDM). Through this integration, information such as school, grade, and name on L-Gate, and device information such as serial number and OS version registered in MDM, are automatically acquired and reflected in the ledger, including history. Furthermore, it supports bulk registration of spare devices via CSV, data output, and the addition of unique management items for local governments. It strongly supports the efficiency of device management operations for education boards and schools. With this integration between "L-Gate"'s Terminal Management Ledger Service and "mobiconnect," device information managed by "mobiconnect" can now be linked with "L-Gate"'s user information for confirmation. "mobiconnect" can acquire device information such as installed applications and OS versions. By combining this information with "L-Gate"'s user information, educational settings can grasp the device usage status, such as "which student is using which device." This integration is expected to advance the understanding of device usage status per student and streamline device management operations in schools, such as device redistribution and identifying devices in case of trouble.
