Our company supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st a day to announce dreams. This press release is the dream of "Yakuso Terakoya."
April 1, 2026.
We, "Yakuso Terakoya," declare one dream to come true.
"To increase the number of people in each region who live with herbs and nature, enjoy nature, and convey its wisdom."
In modern times, in exchange for convenience, it is easy to lose sight of the voice of one's body and one's connection with nature.
Amidst busyness and stress, many people feel they "don't know how to regulate themselves."
In such a situation, since 2015, we have been holding "Herbal Cooking Meister Training Courses" at "Yakuso Terakoya" as a place of learning to regain the "ability to regulate oneself" through familiar wild and medicinal herbs, with the cooperation of Mr. Tadanori Yano, a resident of Oita Prefecture and a teacher at NPO Okusuri Kenkyukai (Medicine Research Association).
Fruit trees and trees in the satoyama (foothills) have, over many years, created an environment passed down by our ancestors to their descendants. They protect our food and lives today.
We want to share the wisdom of living, experiencing, and practicing by foraging in the satoyama and learning about delicious edibles in abandoned fields, enjoying it together as people who create the future.
Wild herbs like yomogi (mugwort) and hakobe (chickweed) growing in the fields
change from being mere weeds to being essential for daily food and care.
That small realization changes life itself.
■ Our Dream
What we aim for is not just the provision of knowledge.
It is a society where more people travel between cities and satoyama, regulate their own mind and body, experience the joy of cultivating plants, and live in harmony with nature. We offer learning opportunities where even single individuals can share old folk houses and utilize abandoned fields as fieldwork sites, experiencing, learning, and enjoying together as members.
・Having wisdom for self-regulating food, traditional Japanese food, fermented food, and natural living, even in busy cities.
・Touching nature and regaining one's senses, even just on weekends.
・Creating a life where one can make choices independently, without relying on anyone.
・Feeling the four seasons through rice and vegetable farming, and laughing with joy and happiness in the activities of daily life.
As this "small self-reliance" spreads,
