On Thursday, July 2, 2026, the kickoff event for the 76th 'Light Up Society Campaign' was held at the Shibuya Yoshimoto Manzai Theater.

The 'Light Up Society Campaign' is a nationwide initiative aimed at deepening public understanding of 'rehabilitation protection'—supporting individuals seeking to recover from crime or delinquency—and building brighter local communities where no new victims or offenders emerge.

Since 2016, the Ministry of Justice and Yoshimoto Kogyo have collaborated on various projects. This year's campaign, under the unified theme 'Let’s widely recognize probation officers and other rehabilitation protection volunteers,' will be conducted nationwide.

Attending the event were Minister of Justice Hiroshi Hiraguchi, Director-General of the Protection Bureau Takashi Yoshikawa, and entertainers Gori (Garage Sale), Fujisaki Market, Two Live, and Ebass. Together with members of the Edogawa Ward Probation Officers Association, they deepened public understanding of rehabilitation protection. Facing active probation officers, Gori commented, 'I feel your warmth plays a role like emotional massage for those seeking rehabilitation.' Collaborative projects were also announced, including a YouTube series titled 'Why Are Probation Officers Necessary?' featuring comedians closely following probation officers, and a short video series 'This Person’s One Phrase Changed My Life!' At the end, Minister Hiraguchi declared the start of the awareness month, expressing determination to expand the campaign’s reach.

Yoshimoto Kogyo will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Justice to promote understanding of the 'Light Up Society Campaign.'
