Masao Yoshii Carefully Selects 5 Stories for Reading Play: Reading/Ghost Story Play 2nd Edition 'Kaidan no Katariba' Confirmed

The reading/ghost story play "Kaidan no Katariba", which recorded a complete sell-out for all performances at the Asakusa Kyugeki last summer, has been decided to be held on a larger scale in Tokyo and Osaka in August 2026. This omnibus main performance of terror that enters through the ears and dominates the brain is a new sensation stage fusing ghost stories and reading plays. The original draft is by Masao Yoshii, a ghost story comedian who garners overwhelming support on the hugely popular YouTube channel "Masao Yoshii's Gathering to Bathe in Ghost Stories" with over 720,000 subscribers. Furthermore, a gorgeous lineup of scriptwriters including Manbou Yashiro, Akira Ishida (NON STYLE), Naoki Matayoshi (Peace), Bike Kawasaki Bike, and Shohei Nomura will sublimate 5 "truly scary" episodes carefully selected by Yoshii into stories, delivered under the direction of Koichi Yajima, leader of Tokyo Mahalo. The cast features talented performers such as Natsumi Ogawa, Yuka Masuda, Masaru Mizuno, Masao Yoshii, and Takeshi Nadagi, and live sound player NOU Yoshida (Ayame Juhachiban) will amplify psychological terror with sound. Also, the final Tokyo performance (Saturday, August 1, 19:30) will hold a special edition of "Kaidan no Katariba": A Gathering to Discuss Ghost Stories with Koji Matoba.
