Yoshihiro Women's Clinic (https://yoshihiro-womens.clinic/, Location: Taito-ku, Tokyo / Director: Yoshihiro Sato), specializing in fertility treatment and in vitro fertilization (IVF), will hold its 5th seminar on April 29, 2026 (Wednesday, Public Holiday) at the clinic. This seminar, held monthly since December last year, aims to help individuals consider IVF without anxiety or questions.
**<As an IVF Seminar to Deepen Understanding and Alleviate Anxiety>** Yoshihiro Women's Clinic's IVF seminars have been attended by a total of 82 participants (including online attendees) across the 1st seminar in December last year, the 2nd in January this year, the 3rd in February, and the 4th in March. The seminars feature the clinic director, as well as on-site staff such as doctors and nurses who interact with patients, and embryologists who cultivate embryos, all sharing practical IVF content based on their knowledge and experience.
According to a survey of 22 participants from the 2nd seminar, many expressed anxiety about "treatment flow," "success rate," "impact of age," and "cost" regarding IVF before the seminar. After the seminar, 95% (*1) of respondents answered that they "understood" the treatment method and "felt less anxious" or "felt more positive" about IVF. Furthermore, 77% (*2) of respondents indicated that they "definitely want to receive treatment" or "want to consider treatment positively" at Yoshihiro Women's Clinic, which we believe reflects their appreciation for our medical team's approach and passion for fertility treatment.
Similar to previous seminars, this seminar starts at 6:30 PM, making it easy to attend after work. Additionally, since April's seminar is held on a public holiday, it is convenient for those who find it difficult to attend on weekdays due to work. We plan to hold the seminar in small groups to carefully answer all participants' questions. Both couples and individuals are welcome to attend. Our medical team, specializing in fertility treatment with extensive experience and a compassionate approach to various patients, will sincerely answer all anxieties and questions.
*1: Out of 22 participants in the 2nd seminar, "understood" or "understood very well" for comprehension, and "still anxious but became positive," "anxiety greatly reduced," or "felt a little relieved" for changes in feelings were aggregated. *2: Out of 22 participants in the 2nd seminar, "want to consider positively" or "definitely want to proceed with treatment at our clinic" were aggregated.
**<What We Want You to Know About IVF>** For those considering fertility treatment, choosing the right method is a major concern. One of the purposes of this seminar is to provide knowledge to help you consider IVF, alongside natural conception methods like timing method and intrauterine insemination (IUI), which has lower costs per cycle.
**① IVF is a significant option for pregnancy potential** General fertility treatments such as the timing method and IUI are known to have lower success rates compared to IVF. The pregnancy rate per cycle for IUI is approximately 5-10%, gradually decreasing with repeated attempts (*1). The pregnancy rate per cycle for IVF is relatively high at about 45-50% for women in their early 30s (approximately 65% at our clinic), but tends to be around 40% for those around 35 years old (approximately 56% at our clinic) (*2, 3). *1: Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology HP 10. Artificial Insemination (AIH: Artificial Insemination with Husband’s semen https://www.jaog.or.jp/lecture/10%E4%BA%BA%E5%B7%A5%E6%8E%88%E7%B2%BE/) *2: Our clinic: 1404 cycles of embryo transfer performed in women aged 44 or younger during 2023. *3: National: 296,104 cycles of embryo transfer performed in women aged 44 or younger during 2023. From "Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2023 ART Data Book."
**② What you should know before continuing with the timing method or IUI** It is known that the ease of conception gradually changes with age. Especially after around age 35, cases where it takes longer to conceive increase, and there is a reported tendency for the course of pregnancy (miscarriage rate) to be more affected. While the timing method and IUI are relatively less burdensome treatments, a longer duration of continuing the same treatment can make one more susceptible to the effects of age.
**③ Preserve eggs in a younger state and prepare for a second child** IVF allows embryos to be frozen in liquid nitrogen, stopping the aging of eggs and preserving them in a younger state. Since the pregnancy rate at the age of freezing can be maintained, for example, even if an embryo transfer is performed three years later, the pregnancy rate remains the same as three years prior. It is also possible to freeze multiple eggs and undergo fertility treatment for a second child at the pregnancy rate of a younger age.
Compared to the timing method and IUI, which have lower pregnancy rates and time limits, IVF offers the advantage of relatively higher pregnancy rates and the ability to choose the timing of pregnancy for a second child or later using eggs collected at a younger age. Furthermore, this year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced an expansion of fertility treatment cost subsidies starting in fiscal year 2026, including treatments covered by insurance such as IVF, with a maximum subsidy of 150,000 yen for treatments started after April. Administrative support is becoming more robust. We hope that those struggling with infertility and unsure about treatment methods will gain accurate knowledge about the reality of IVF through this seminar and consider it as an option.

**<Director's Comment>** [Director | Yoshihiro Sato] Regarding the IVF Seminar "Yoshihiro Women's Clinic was founded with my own and my family's real experiences as its origin. Pregnancy, childbirth, and fertility treatment are not only medical choices but also major decisions deeply involved in life, accompanied by anxiety, hesitation, and physical and mental burdens. Fertility treatment is often described as a 'painful' and 'difficult' medical field, but we have prioritized creating an environment where patients can face treatment with peace of mind, reducing their burden as much as possible. We have continuously improved not only the treatment content but also aspects like reducing waiting times, ease of commuting, and the involvement of each staff member, based on patient feedback. As a result, we sometimes receive comments from patients who have completed treatment, not only those who graduated with a pregnancy but also those who did not achieve the desired outcome, saying, 'It was fun to come to the clinic' or 'I'm glad I came here.' As a doctor, I believe achieving results is paramount, but receiving such words makes me feel that the medical time itself was meaningful for the patients. In this seminar, in addition to providing accurate knowledge about IVF, I hope you can feel the medical attitude we value at our clinic, the insights we have cultivated through daily practice, and the human warmth. I hope this time will help those considering treatment or in the midst of treatment to organize their anxieties and move forward at their own pace."
**<Seminars Held Regularly Every Month>** Yoshihiro Women's Clinic will continue to hold seminars on fertility treatment and IVF once a month. Each seminar will feature a different theme, offering detailed and easy-to-understand explanations of general infertility concerns and specific treatment methods. We will provide knowledge and emotional support to address your anxieties and resolve your questions.
