PORTER will release the 'BUS GIRL' bag series on April 3, 2026 (Friday), themed after the 'bus girls'—a profession that flourished in the Showa era. Around 1935, when Yoshida Kaban was founded, bus girls were a symbol of women's social advancement and a source of admiration. The BUS GIRL series fuses this theme with the functional convenience of professional bags. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, Yoshida Kaban presents this as a 'new classic' that feels beautiful in today's era, upholding the 'Ichin-Nyukon' (soul in every stitch) spirit. The bags feature deep, glossy black glass leather, reminiscent of a grand piano, with a vibrant red pig suede interior—an homage to the uniforms of bus girls. The construction encourages graceful movements, as the bag must be properly closed like tying shoelaces. Each bag is meticulously crafted by Japanese artisans. From cutting to polishing and sewing, every step is done by hand, allowing for only one bag to be produced per day. This series challenges modern efficiency, re-evaluating the value of artisanal work. Prices: HANDBAG 165,000 JPY, HANDBAG(S) 143,000 JPY (tax included). Available at PORTER flagship stores and select locations.
