Our company supports 'April Dream,' an initiative to share dreams on April 1st. This press release represents the dream of 'YOKOITO Inc.'

'Create a society where all ideas can be shaped.'

—YOKOITO continues to challenge itself to realize this vision.

YOKOITO Inc. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture; CEO: Yutaro Nakajima) launched 'YAM (Yokoito Additive Manufacturing)' in 2021, aiming to research and promote AM technology. We provide total support related to AM, including contract development, production outsourcing, in-house support, and technical education.

Through the promotion of AM technology and manufacturing support, we aim to 'create a society where all ideas can be shaped.'

Background of the Dream

Ideas like 'I wish this product existed' or 'It would be more convenient if this part were changed' often emerge in daily life, only to disappear when hitting the wall of manufacturing. While personal manufacturing and prototyping have become more accessible, the stage of 'selling as a product' or 'commercialization' is hindered by cost issues.

Due to the diversification of consumer needs, agile product development and optimization of production volume are essential, but current production means for small-to-medium lots are limited.

From the norm of 'making and transporting' to rising logistics costs and the risk of logistics stoppages, the manufacturing floor is changing, requiring a different form of manufacturing than before.

Turn ideas into reality immediately and deliver them to the market. With AM, which excels in small-to-medium lot production, it is possible to achieve both uncompromising design changes and speedy supply. Through data-driven supply chains that minimize physical movement, it may also be possible to reduce the burden on logistics.

Current and Past Initiatives

YOKOITO launched YAM and has built a support system by practicing prototyping, production, and commercialization ourselves. We provide technology to turn ideas into 'form' by combining diverse technologies and know-how from planning and development to manufacturing and assembly. We have flexibly developed and manufactured products for various industries, from one-off items to automotive and medical/healthcare sectors.

Production of Large-Scale City Model for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

For the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, YAM produced a 1/1000 scale model of the new capital 'Nusantara' at the Indonesian Pavilion.

Based on urban data, we optimized the design and constructed a diorama using 3D printers for the 7-meter diameter terrain base and approximately 1,700 buildings. We realized large-scale, high-precision model production in a short period, which was difficult with conventional manufacturing methods.

Producing with 3D printers means that even if a defect occurs in the molded object during the production period, the data can be re-molded and joined to the downstream process as early as the same day. This is one of the initiatives that realized on-demand production and optimization of production volume, minimizing waste and making what is needed, where it is needed, in the amount needed.

Providing Excellent Surface Quality with Vapor Smoothing Machine 'VX1'

To utilize 3D printed items as final products, improving surface quality is a crucial element.

By introducing the 'VX1' from Dyemansion, YOKOITO has raised the quality of 3D printed items by one level, achieving both a smooth appearance that suppresses the layer marks unique to 3D printing and functionality.

Through these initiatives, YAM is expanding manufacturing where AM is established as a product.

In the world of manufacturing where issues are intricately intertwined, YOKOITO will continue to maximize the power of evolving AM and create new forms of manufacturing.

The dream we hold is not something that can be completed by us alone.

'I want to create a product like no other,' 'I am interested in AM technology,' 'I want to be involved in new manufacturing.'

For those with such thoughts, YAM wants to show a new way of manufacturing and move closer to this dream together. In this April Dream, we are also sending out a wish to meet colleagues who empathize with our dream and can walk with us.

YOKOITO will continue to challenge itself toward the realization of a 'society where all ideas can be shaped' while connecting technology and people.
