The brand "Ground Y (Ground Y)" proposes new possibilities in fashion with a genderless and ageless style, incorporating multifaceted elements that synchronize with its concept, filtered through Yohji Yamamoto Inc.

Ground Y will release collaboration items that express the worldview of Taro Okamoto, a leading avant-garde artist of 20th-century Japan, through its unique creations, starting July 31 (Fri).

Okamoto, who moved to France in the 1930s and participated in abstract art and Surrealist movements in the international art scene of Paris, continued his cross-disciplinary creative activities after his return, literally "exploding" across genres from painting and giant sculptures to public art, as well as cultural criticism and ethnographic approaches.

We will present a collaboration collection that maximizes the energetic and primal colors and forms of Mr. Okamoto, fused with Ground Y's creations.

▼ Taro Okamoto (1911-1996)

A leading avant-garde artist in Japan. In the 1930s in Paris, he encountered cutting-edge ideas and art such as abstract art, Surrealism, and ethnology, and built his own unique aesthetic. After the war, he developed innovative expressions in various fields including painting, sculpture, design, and criticism, presenting new values to the Japanese art world. He created the "Tower of the Sun" for the Osaka Expo in 1970, producing one of Japan's symbolic artworks. His creativity and challenging spirit continue to influence many people even after his death.
