Project Utilizing Existing Buildings to Inherit the Town's Context

The Project aims to develop a hotel that leverages the value of existing buildings while inheriting the history and lifestyle context that Nihonbashi Hamacho has cultivated over many years. This facility will not only offer accommodation but also serve as a hub open to the town through dining, retail, and community engagement, proposing a new form of stay.

Creating New Stay Value

As part of efforts to enhance the overall appeal of the town, the Project is positioned as a facility for visitors from outside the area, while also connecting with the daily lives of local residents. The first floor will feature a restaurant, cafe, and shops open to the town, with a design that facilitates natural interaction between hotel guests and local residents. It aims to be a base where visitors can experience the atmosphere and rhythm of Nihonbashi Hamacho, not just as a base for Tokyo sightseeing, but as an extension of daily life.

Mercury Inc., which will manage the hotel operations, views hotels not merely as places to stay, but as media that mediate "people-to-people," "people-to-space," and "people-to-culture" connections. In this Project, they will provide a stay experience that reflects the context of the Nihonbashi Hamacho area.

Our Town Development in Nihonbashi Hamacho

Our company aims to create a town where people can continue to live and work in Nihonbashi Hamacho. We have developed large-scale office buildings and residences such as "Nihonbashi Hamacho F-Tower (1997)" and "Tornare Nihonbashi Hamacho (2005)." Since 2015, to differentiate the area, we have established the town development concept of "A town where 'handicrafts' and 'greenery' are visible," and have been attracting street-level retail stores that can only be experienced in Nihonbashi Hamacho. By continuously attracting street-level retail stores through small- to medium-scale developments (point development) rather than large-scale redevelopment (area development), we have worked to enhance the area's appeal and vitality. Starting with "Hamacho Kaneko (soba)", "Taniya Wa (udon)", and "Fujiya Honten Nihonbashi Hamacho (French)" which opened in FY2015, we have since developed the complex facility "HAMACHO HOTEL & APARTMENTS" in 2019 as a place to create new culture and community, "T-HOUSE New Balance" in 2020, "Single O hamacho (coffee)" in 2022, "HAMACHO FUTURE LAB / Totonoi Kenkyujo (running station with sauna)" in 2023, "Hamacho Eguchi (sushi)" in 2024, "iiyu HAMACHO (rental housing/urban hot spring facility)", "Occitanial (Western confectionery)", and "J.M. WESTON" in 2025, and the "Nihonbashi Hamacho 3-14 Project (planned Tarte specialty store by AM STRAM GRAM)" in 2026. These initiatives have not only made the area a base for local residents and workers but have also attracted many guests from Japan and abroad.

In parallel with these hard infrastructure developments, we are also undertaking soft initiatives to foster town vibrancy. To build relationships and promote interaction with local residents and businesses, we launched the "Hamacho Marche" in 2015 and developed the community hub "Hama House" in 2017, where we hold events to facilitate information exchange and create new connections. The "Nihonbashi Hamacho Area Management Association," established in April 2020 with local neighborhood associations, shopping streets, and local companies, was designated as an Urban Renaissance Promotion Organization by Chuo City in 2022 and currently has 47 member organizations.

We will continue to promote the unique town development of Nihonbashi Hamacho by integrating these small- to medium-scale point developments (hard aspects) with area branding through diverse community activities (soft aspects). This will foster interaction and a sense of attachment to the town among local residents and workers, while also aiming to create an attractive town that draws diverse visitors.
