Yappli Supports Development of Earth Pharmaceutical's Employee App 'COMPASS - Earth'

Yappli Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yasufumi Yabuhara; hereinafter 'Yappli'), provider of the app platform 'Yappli,' announces its support in developing 'COMPASS - Earth,' an internal communication platform for Earth Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Katsuyoshi Kawabata; hereinafter 'Earth Pharmaceutical'), as part of its initiative to strengthen internal communication.

In this project, Yappli seamlessly integrated its employee engagement platform 'UNITE by Yappli' with its next-generation web development platform 'Yappli WebX.' This integration enables employees to access identical content via both web and mobile apps, achieving timely and frequent information dissemination while maintaining high design quality.

Background and Objectives of UNITE by Yappli Implementation

At Earth Pharmaceutical, increasing employee and department numbers due to business expansion raised concerns about the difficulty of effectively delivering company messages and values. Since 2019, the company has promoted internal communication through three pillars: group newsletters, internal radio broadcasts, and lectures by external experts. However, traditional methods presented three key challenges:

High production burden for group newsletters: The process from interviews to publication took several months, requiring significant time and cost.

Limited archive access: With intranet operations centered on PCs, employees could not easily access information from remote locations or outside working hours—precisely when they wanted to view it.

Fragmented and dispersed information: Information was scattered across paper, devices, and websites, making impact measurement difficult.

To address these issues and create a space where each employee can feel their contribution to corporate value, Earth Pharmaceutical consolidated and unified paper- and web-based information. The introduction of a dedicated app now serves as a unified platform aligning all employees toward a common goal.

Features of 'COMPASS - Earth'

1. Consolidation of dispersed information with hybrid access via PC and smartphone

Information previously scattered across paper and intranet systems has been centralized into the app. Through integration with 'Yappli WebX,' the magazine-style aesthetic of the printed newsletter—long appreciated by employees—is now faithfully reproduced on both web and app platforms.

This enables not only desk-based employees using PCs but also field staff to access real-time information instantly via smartphones.

2. Rich, engaging content with video and audio

Moving beyond text- and photo-based communication, the platform now delivers serialized content incorporating videos and audio. This allows rapid delivery of CEO messages and timely departmental news, directly conveying the company’s real-time activities.

3. Organization-wide communication

In addition to content from the Management Planning Department (the operational hub), information previously limited to departmental bulletin boards or emails is now simultaneously published on the platform. Sharing departmental initiatives fosters deeper mutual understanding among employees and departments.

Departments with previously limited outreach have expressed interest in spotlighting young employees to boost motivation and in using casual, approachable designs for employee engagement. The platform is already being actively used to spread each department’s enthusiasm across the entire organization.

The goal is to become a central hub for internal communication that helps employees understand the company’s direction and connect it to their daily actions.

Since 2019, Earth Pharmaceutical has been actively enhancing internal communication. Replacing approximately 330 existing pieces of content during implementation would not have been possible without Yappli’s support. We placed particular emphasis on design and UI, and Yappli repeatedly refined their proposals to meet our implementation needs. As a result, both employee users and contributing departments have highly praised the platform as an effective space for sharing departmental activities.

By designing each content piece to be compact and easily viewable during work breaks on web or mobile, we’ve lowered the barrier for content creators. Previously, there was an unspoken assumption that 'only Management Planning should publish content.' However, within about six months of launch, we began receiving proactive requests from operational departments saying, 'We want to publish this kind of content.' Our operational approach now involves co-creating from concept development through to planning and distribution.

We will continue our efforts to sustain this positive cycle between content creators and recipients.
