Participating in Niigata Prefecture's "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan" (Terraced Paddy Field Future Support Group) Activities

Yamatane Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Iwao Kawarada; hereinafter referred to as "the Group") is pleased to announce that 23 volunteer employees from the Group participated as members of the "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan" in a rice planting event held in the terraced paddy fields of the Mizusawa district, Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, on June 6, 2026. The Group supports the purpose of the "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan," an initiative by Niigata Prefecture aimed at conserving and maintaining terraced paddy fields, and has entered as a cooperating company from this fiscal year.

The Group is working to solve the challenges faced by production areas to achieve sustainable farming, with the slogan "Supporting the Continuation of Production Areas." Recognizing that the abandonment of terraced paddy fields is an urgent issue, the Group, which has been involved with rice for over 100 years as its ancestral business of rice wholesaling, began its terraced paddy field conservation efforts in 2023 to address this challenge. In Niigata Prefecture, the Group has become a corporate owner to conserve the "Shionotoge Terraced Paddy Fields" (Tokamachi City) and has incorporated terraced paddy field conservation activities into its shareholder benefit program, inviting shareholders who own a certain amount of stock to participate in rice planting and harvesting experiences through an application system. In Toyama Prefecture, the Group is proceeding with the construction of "WEAZER," Japan's first fully energy-self-sufficient accommodation facility with terraced paddy fields and agriculture as key concepts, on idle farmland in the "Nagasaka Terraced Paddy Fields" (Himi City), aiming for regional promotion and sustainable community development.

Niigata Prefecture is recruiting companies to participate in terraced paddy field conservation activities as "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan" members to support farming activities and regional revitalization in terraced paddy field areas. The Group has participated as a cooperating company in the "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan" from this fiscal year, and 23 employees from the Group participated in the rice planting event held in the Mizusawa district of Tokamachi City on June 6.

On the day, blessed with clear weather, employees from four cooperating companies of the "Tanada Mirai Ouen Dan," including the Group, participated in rice planting. Participants expressed that it was a "very valuable experience to be directly involved in the production activities in the terraced fields," and it served as an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the role of terraced paddy fields and the importance of their maintenance and conservation.

The Group will continue to actively participate in terraced paddy field conservation activities, contributing to the creation of a "related population" in terraced paddy field regions, and working towards becoming "the company that protects the most terraced paddy fields in Japan."
