(From left) Chiba from our Plastic Company, Mr. Uenishi, Director of the Hyogo Prefectural Environmental Department, and Sumiya, Section Chief of our Plastic Company.
The award is a system that recognizes businesses that are actively engaged in environmentally conscious business activities such as environmental conservation and creation activities, promotion of environmental learning, manufacturing, sales, and provision of services for environmentally friendly products, and recycling activities.
Our Plastic Company produces approximately 3.7 billion beverage caps annually in Japan and promotes a plastic recycling project (hereinafter referred to as RIN) that transforms used PET bottle caps back into new caps or new value.
Through RIN, we have concluded a "Cooperation Agreement on the Promotion of Circular Resources for Plastic Caps" with Amagasaki City and, in collaboration with the Amagasaki City Environmental Department, have installed PET bottle cap collection boxes in all elementary schools within the city. Currently, we are collecting PET bottle caps through these collection boxes and working on the recycling and remanufacturing of the caps.
This award highly recognizes not only our initiatives with Amagasaki City but also the implementation of Japan's first "demonstration experiment for horizontal recycling of alcoholic beverage caps."
We will continue to promote PET bottle cap recycling through RIN's activities.
■RIN ~Recycle Innovation in the New Normal~
RIN is a plastic recycling project that originated from the "Bottle-to-Bottle" concept, focusing on transforming used PET bottle caps back into new caps or new value.
It goes beyond simple recycling by designing the entire process from product design to collection, regeneration, and reuse as a continuous flow, creating new value in society. RIN is seeking new partners who agree with this initiative and will co-create value.
