Reissue of Legendary Model Appears in New Colors After Half a Century; Guild Electric Guitar "S-300 Deluxe"

Yamaha Music Japan Co., Ltd. will release the electric guitar "S-300 Deluxe" by the Guild brand, developed by Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation's guitar business, in late July 2026.

"Guild" was founded in 1953 in New York, USA, and has been an iconic guitar brand loved by musicians worldwide and etched into music history to this day. Among its offerings, the electric guitar "S-300," released in 1977, was distinctive with its offset body featuring a bold cutaway and sculpted contours. Its ambitious specifications, including an unusual phase switch for the time, garnered enthusiastic support from many enthusiasts. The "S-300 Deluxe Neptune Blue Metallic" and "S-300 Deluxe Vintage Sterling Metallic" to be released this time are reissue models that retain the original design philosophy of the "S-300" while refining playability and practicality for modern players.

The "S-300 Deluxe" inherits the contoured mahogany body, double-cutaway body shape, and 24-fret design characteristic of the "S-300," while adopting a Soft U-shaped set neck that naturally fits the hand and a 24.75-inch rosewood fingerboard. This ensures comfortable playability. For sound, it is equipped with HB-2+ humbuckers using Alnico V magnets. The combination of two volume/tone controls and a phase switch produces a wide range of tones, from warm vintage sounds to edgy modern sounds. Hardware includes an Ultimate Angle Tune-o-matic style bridge and vintage-style Guild compensated tailpiece, as well as Grover G2 open-gear tuners, enhancing playability, intonation accuracy, and tuning stability. It has evolved into an instrument suitable for everything from live performances to recording. Two striking metallic colors are available to catch the audience's eye. Combined with traditional designs such as the classic Guild peak logo and Chesterfield inlay, they further enhance the individuality of the original model.
