Arai Painting Store Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 135-3 Nakajima, Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, President: Takato Arai, Founded: 1949) is participating in the "April Dream" project, aiming to make April 1st a day to share dreams. This press release is the April Dream of Arai Painting Store Co., Ltd.

Our Dream: "To Eliminate Board-Based Enclosures from Japanese Construction Sites."
This is the dream that we, a painting company with 77 years of history, are seriously pursuing.
Our Dream
When it comes to construction site enclosures, "surrounding with plywood" has long been the norm. However, within this common practice lie many burdens for construction sites. The physical strain of carrying numerous heavy boards. The need for storage space. The man-hours and number of workers required for installation and dismantling. The disposal of used boards. And in the face of a deepening labor shortage, it's becoming increasingly difficult to allocate personnel to enclosure work. For over 76 years, we have stood on construction sites as a painting company. During this time, we have continuously pondered, "Can't this heavy and labor-intensive enclosure work be simplified?"
What We Have Started
The answer is the Wrap Shielding method. This is an enclosure technique that uses specialized shrink film, which is shrunk with heat to "wrap and seal" the object. Instead of "enclosing" with boards, we "wrap" with film.
This shift in perspective has led to significant reductions in installation and dismantling time, enabling construction with fewer workers, reducing waste, and creating a brighter, safer work environment with natural light.
This method is officially registered in Shizuoka Prefecture's "New Technology and New Construction Method Information Database" (Registration Number 1832, Evaluation Level 3). It has been recognized as an optimal technology for temporary protection of steel bridges, pedestrian bridges, and roadside areas in public works, demonstrating its effectiveness in labor saving, schedule shortening, and safety improvement. Furthermore, in 2025, we will launch the "IARA" series, which complies with both the US standard NFPA 701 and the fire resistance test of the Fire Retardant Association of Japan. As the industry's first flame-retardant shrink wrap enclosure, we are establishing a system that can be used with peace of mind even for long-term construction or in areas where fire management is critical. In one site, we achieved a total cost reduction of approximately 670,000 yen (※varies depending on site conditions) in labor and material costs compared to the board enclosure method.
The Future We Want to Deliver
Our dream is not simply to promote one construction method.
We want to eliminate the voices of construction workers saying, "It's heavy," "It's difficult," and "We don't have enough people."
We want to bring innovation to the "behind-the-scenes work" of enclosures, creating sites where craftspeople can concentrate on their core skills. And we want to deliver construction sites across Japan that reduce waste, protect the landscape, and provide peace of mind to local residents. From "enclosing" with boards to "wrapping and protecting." We are serious about making this challenge, which began at a small painting company, the new standard for Japanese construction sites.

President's Comment
The construction industry is currently facing severe labor shortages and rising material costs. We need to change the "common sense" of the site one by one to finish projects with fewer people, safely, and in a short period. We want to end the era of enclosing with boards. Delivering a new standard of "wrapping and protecting" is our dream and our mission.
