Spitz, a rock band that has continued to be active and supported by a wide range of generations for a long time, celebrating their 35th anniversary this year.
It has been decided that a special one-night-only event, "Rokuman-sai ~SPITZ Masamune Kusano's Rock Tairiku Manyu Matsuri~," will be held on September 22, 2026 (Tuesday/Holiday) at Ariake Arena, featuring three bands they revere. This event is Spitz's first to invite international artists, conceived from the concept of the radio regular program "SPITZ Masamune Kusano's Rock Tairiku Manyuki," which began broadcasting on TOKYO FM/JFN nationwide network in January 2018.
The performers include "Teenage Fanclub," a guitar-pop band from Glasgow, Scotland; "Ride," a band representing UK shoegazer of the 1990s; "Hitsujibungaku," an alternative rock band from Japan; and Spitz, making a total of four acts.
The concept for the event also draws inspiration from the final area "To the Future" of "SPITZ, NOW! ~The Story of Rock Tairiku Exhibition~," Spitz's first large-scale exhibition held in three cities (Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka) from 2024 to 2025. In this area, established at the end of the exhibition to have visitors write "hopes and messages for the future Spitz," Spitz members posed the question, "Which bands/artists would you like Spitz to collaborate with?" Based on the many fan voices collected and discussions with program staff and related parties, the three bands performing this time were decided.
"Teenage Fanclub," a band with over 30 years of career since its formation, continues to gather enthusiastic support even now, and is a band that Spitz has deep affection for, even featuring them in a radio program.
"Ride," a band representing UK shoegazer of the 1990s, temporarily ceased activities in 1996 and reformed in 2015. They continue to gather support not only from long-time fans but also from new generations.
From Japan, the alternative rock band "Hitsujibungaku" has been decided to perform. Known for their clear vocals and lyrical sound, they have openly stated their influence from "Ride," making this a valuable co-performance not to be missed.
This time, Spitz will move to the audience seats after their own performance and enjoy the performances of the other three bands with the audience until the end.
"Rokuman-sai," where Spitz, as one of the audience members, travels the rock continent with their fans. Don't miss this special event.
Masamune Kusano's Comment:
"Inviting international bands is probably a first for Spitz, so that alone is quite groundbreaking for Spitz. Furthermore, this time, after Spitz's turn is over, I plan to watch the other three bands from the audience with everyone. This project is about Spitz also enjoying the live performance with everyone, and wanting to wander the rock continent with everyone on this journey! Travel the real rock continent with me! Please wander with Spitz."
