Meteorological Forecasters Join Campaign to Promote Men's Umbrella Use This Summer: Wpc. IZA Launches 'Sun Umbrella Forecast 2026 for Men'

Based on meteorological data such as temperature, humidity, and solar radiation across Japan, the site forecasts a 'Sun Umbrella Index' indicating the necessity of using a sun umbrella. This year, for the first time, six meteorological forecasters active in TV information programs will collaborate to promote the forecast via social media, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of sun umbrellas from a professional standpoint and encourage their everyday use. The site will be available for a limited period from June 29, 2026 (Mon) to September 30, 2026 (Wed).

In recent years, due to extreme heat and intense sunlight, sun umbrellas have become increasingly recognized as an effective heat-protection measure. Among men, rising awareness of comfort and personal grooming has led to wider adoption of sun umbrellas, making them a more common sight in urban areas.

However, determining whether a sun umbrella is needed on a given day can be difficult—ultraviolet radiation can remain strong even on cloudy days, making it challenging to assess sun intensity based on weather alone.

To address this, Wpc. IZA is launching the 'Sun Umbrella Forecast 2026 for Men.' This special content calculates a 'Sun Umbrella Index (level of necessity)' using meteorological data including temperature, humidity, and solar radiation from locations nationwide, clearly communicating the need for a sun umbrella according to daily heat conditions. The forecast categorizes days from 'days when an umbrella brings peace of mind' to 'days when you can't do without an umbrella,' helping users make informed decisions before heading out, commuting, or traveling.

This year, Wpc. IZA has partnered with six meteorological forecasters from Weathermap to strengthen outreach. Each forecaster will share insights on heat conditions and the importance of sun umbrellas through social media, offering expert perspectives.
