Nara has a long history of storing ice and presenting it to the imperial court. Himuro Shrine, which enshrines the god of ice, stands as a symbol of this tradition and is still deeply revered by confectionery and ice-making professionals nationwide. Amid the recent shaved ice boom, renewed attention is being drawn to the background that "Nara is the origin of shaved ice." This plan proposes a pleasant, summer-only sightseeing route where guests can leisurely walk around Himuro Shrine and the Naramachi area, feeling the coolness of history.

A Wish to Stay and Savor Nara

"Since you're staying in Nara, we want you to go beyond the hotel and explore the town, discovering the charm of local shops"—this idea from our hotel staff inspired the project. Last year, the plan involved three stores, but this year, the number of partner shops has increased to five, expanding the joy of choice. Guests will receive a ¥1,100 shaved ice voucher, redeemable at one shop of their choice from among the designated shops in Nara City. Enjoy Nara-inspired ingredients, Japanese and Western techniques, and each shop’s unique character to discover your own perfect "cool treat."
