Workday K.K. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Executive President & Japan Representative: Riki Furuichi; hereinafter "Workday"), which provides an AI platform for enterprise HR, finance, and agents, and IBM Japan, Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Akio Yamaguchi; hereinafter "IBM Japan") announced today that Rigaku Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Akishima-shi, Tokyo; Representative Director CEO: Jun Kawakami; hereinafter "Rigaku") has implemented "Workday Human Capital Management (hereinafter "Workday HCM")" as its global HRIS (Human Resources Information System) with implementation support from IBM Japan, and commenced full operation in December 2025. The system was implemented globally, including in the United States, covering HR and payroll domains, and achieved full operation in less than a year.

In recent years, Rigaku has been expanding its business in advanced industrial sectors, including semiconductors, and is accelerating its global organizational scale and human capital investment accordingly. Currently, it has bases in 9 countries worldwide and employs approximately 2,000 people. In its mid-term management plan (disclosed in February 2025), the company aims to expand its workforce to approximately 2,500 to 2,600 employees by 2027, in line with business expansion in overseas markets. While rapid business growth is progressing, human resources information and processes were dispersed across regions and group companies within its globally deployed organizational structure, making it a challenge to visualize and strategically utilize talent across the entire company.

Against this backdrop, Rigaku adopted Workday HCM as a unified global talent data platform. It was highly evaluated for its user experience, which managers and employees can utilize autonomously, as well as its analytical functions and AI that support data-driven human capital management.

Rigaku advocates "Global One Rigaku (hereinafter "G1R")" as an initiative to optimize global performance and enhance overall group strength with all employees worldwide working as one team. With an overseas sales ratio exceeding 70%, the company is forming functions such as development, manufacturing, sales, and services across national and corporate boundaries, and is transitioning to a global organizational structure. By implementing Workday in parallel with initiatives to strengthen group management, such as global grading, Rigaku competencies, and the establishment of a stock compensation system, it will build a common talent data platform that integrally supports these measures. Workday is positioned as the "core foundation of human capital management" in Rigaku's medium- to long-term growth strategy, supporting group governance based on G1R.

For the implementation of Workday HCM, IBM Japan formed parallel teams for Rigaku's Japan and US bases from the concept formulation stage and supported the early development of an implementation plan through intensive workshops targeting key stakeholders. Furthermore, IBM Japan promoted program management in Japan and the US during the design and build phases of Workday, achieving a global big-bang go-live, where the new system was switched over simultaneously worldwide, in less than a year.

By implementing Workday HCM, Rigaku has standardized and centralized human resources data and processes that were previously scattered across regions and group companies globally. This enables real-time visualization of employee information, skills, careers, and assignments. Rigaku's management and HR can now more quickly and strategically optimize its global talent portfolio aligned with business strategy and promote talent management in highly specialized areas such as semiconductors and life sciences.

Furthermore, by utilizing Workday's enterprise AI, Rigaku can gain advanced insights into human capital, such as talent search, skill gap identification, and talent placement simulations. This allows Rigaku to build a system that continuously supports business portfolio expansion and innovation creation by improving global talent acquisition, development, and engagement.

Moving forward, Rigaku will continue to expand its workforce towards 2027 and promote the maximization of human capital utilizing Workday. By executing a unified global HR strategy, the company aims for sustainable growth and enhanced competitiveness. Workday will continue to support Rigaku's human capital management and global growth through its integrated talent data platform and enterprise AI.
