## We want to convey Japan's world-class culture and charm

Our dream is a future where "KIKKA means building blocks" is naturally spoken. Currently, European-made building blocks are widely known. Their appeal is, of course, wonderful. On the other hand, Japan has its own unique delicacy and a culture of play that fosters cooperation, which we can be proud of worldwide. In this, the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, from material selection to processing and finishing, is alive. We believe that Japanese-made building blocks also possess a world-class culture and charm. Furthermore, what modern children need is not to trace pre-prepared answers, but the ability to think for themselves, experiment, challenge, and create. To nurture that ability, we want to deliver "triggers" that children naturally acquire through play to many children. It is with this desire that "KIKKA," an educational building block originating from Japan, was born. Born from these aspirations, KIKKA is currently expanding through various initiatives.

## It all started with "unstackable building blocks"

KIKKA is an educational building block born from the desire for children to "become people who can think and act for themselves." Today's world is overflowing with toys that can be played with without thinking. On the other hand, opportunities for play that involve deep thinking and repeated trial and error may be decreasing.

"Try, think, and challenge again" - this repetition is what cultivates children's thinking skills. That's why we decided, "We want to create toys that allow for more freedom and more enjoyment in thinking." After many prototypes, we arrived at two shapes, X-shaped and K-shaped, inspired by flowers and butterflies. There are no rules for how to play. From simple to difficult, the possibilities depend on the child's imagination and growth. It may not go well at first. However, the moment of "I did it!" that follows is what nurtures thinking ability, curiosity, and self-esteem.

"Building blocks that are not easy to stack, that don't go as planned" - that is the origin of KIKKA. Our wish is for children to develop the power to carve out their future through the experience of playing while thinking.

## KIKKA's Initiatives

KIKKA began sales in June 2024. For its material, we use "Yoshino cypress," a renowned timber from Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture, one of Japan's leading forestry regions. Because it is something children touch, we focused on safe materials and quality that can be used for a long time. Since its launch, we have actively participated in experiential events in Yoshino Town, the material's origin, and various parenting events, valuing opportunities to directly hear children's play and parents' voices. Through these efforts, KIKKA received the "18th Kids Design Award" (2024).
