In Alsace, a clear hierarchy can be seen among the Grand Crus. We will explain them for systematic understanding by grouping the Grand Crus based on soil type and their得意 (specialty) grape varieties.

Moved to Boston in 2003 at the age of 19 to study music.
Later moved to NY and honed his skills as a sommelier at various restaurants.
Received the Rising Star NYC Sommelier Award from starchefs.com in 2011.
Received the Zagat 30 under 30 NYC Sommelier Award from Zagat Survey in 2012.
In the same year, received the America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurant Award from Wine Enthusiast magazine.
His consecutive awards in the world's largest sommelier battlefield is a unique achievement for a sommelier of Japanese origin.
After returning to Japan in 2012, he served as chef sommelier at restaurants in Tokyo, including a Michelin three-star restaurant.
In 2017, he was invited to Somms of the World held in Australia as one of the World’s 50 Best Sommeliers.
In 2018, established La Mer Inc. and assumed the position of President and CEO.
Contributes to numerous wine magazines as a wine journalist.
In 2020, launched the online wine media SommeTimes with himself as the main writer.
