Summer Craft Workshop: "Let's Make a Semaphore Signal!"

After an explanation of the role and mechanism of semaphore signals, we will craft a semaphore signal using a single sheet of thick paper. You can take your completed work home with you ♪

Exhibition of Archived Materials: "Railways Born from Blueprints: The World of Design Drawings and Actual Objects"

This exhibition of archived materials allows you to enjoy items not usually on display. This time, we will compare blueprints of railway vehicles and equipment with actual parts to show how railways are designed and take shape.

Exhibition of Archived Photos: "Special Exhibition Trains That Came to the Kyoto Railway Museum"

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of our museum's opening, we will introduce trains that have been specially exhibited on sidings and other locations.

Public viewing of trains not usually accessible

Special Train Viewing: "500 Series Shinkansen Train, Car 521, Car 1"

Our museum offers interior viewings of exhibition trains, mainly on weekends. In August, following July, we will feature the "500 Series Shinkansen Train, Car 521, Car 1." This train was developed by JR West and debuted on the Sanyo Shinkansen in 1997, achieving commercial operation at a then-world-record speed of 300 km/h. Its distinctive nose shape extends 15 meters of its 27-meter length.

In the morning, there will be a brief explanation by staff, and in the afternoon, it will be a free viewing. Please take this opportunity to visit.

*During the train explanation sessions, only participants can enter the car.
