We are pleased to announce the details of "Oppyappee-style! How to Enjoy the Kyoto Railway Museum," an event offering a slightly humorous yet intellectual perspective on how to enjoy our museum.

Additionally, we provide further information about the exhibition "A Glimpse of the Near Future" (July 18 (Sat) – August 23 (Sun)), which showcases initiatives by JR West Group and startup companies.

"Oppyappee-style! How to Enjoy the Kyoto Railway Museum" [Event Period: July 18 (Sat) – September 23 (Mon, national holiday)]

1. Yoshihiko Kojima Welcome Video

A video message from event ambassador Yoshihiko Kojima will be screened inside the entrance building.

2. Oppyappee-style! Museum Stamp Rally

Stamps will be placed at six locations throughout the museum. At each stamp point, a monitor will screen a video dialogue between Yoshihiko Kojima and Museum Director Toshihiro Matsuoka.

※ Stamp cards will be available near the 500 Series Shinkansen train on the 1st floor of the Main Building.

※ Visitors who collect all stamps will receive a special digital wallpaper image for smartphones and other devices. Download the image by scanning the QR code at the final destination. (Data charges apply at user’s expense.)

3. Oppyappee-style! SL Steam-go Operation

The SL Steam-go will display a special commemorative headmark for the event. Passengers can also enjoy original announcements by Yoshihiko Kojima during the ride♪

4. Yoshihiko Kojima One-Day Director Day

Yoshihiko Kojima will serve as the Kyoto Railway Museum's one-day director! Enjoy a talk show with Director Matsuoka and some comedy routines♪

"A Glimpse of the Near Future" Exhibition

What kind of "near future" related to railways and daily life do you imagine? The JR West Group, together with startup companies, is challenging itself to create a better future across diverse fields such as railways, urban development, and space. This exhibition also introduces initiatives by other railway companies. Come see a glimpse of the near future!

1. "Future Railways Zone"

Discover robotics technologies used in railway maintenance, next-generation railway systems, and new services that enhance safety, convenience, and comfort in transportation. Experience the near future of railways.

Learn about various initiatives by the JR West Group and startup companies shaping the near future of lifestyles and local communities, including the world's first 3D-printed station building project, urban development using XR (Cross Reality) technology, and land-based aquaculture addressing food challenges.

3. "Future Space Business Zone"

Discover the journey of Kairos rockets aiming for space from SPK (Spaceport Kii), Japan’s first private rocket launch site in Kushimoto Town and Nachikatsuura Town, Wakayama Prefecture. This exhibition features launch pad components, connection cables, and flight tags—genuine artifacts never before publicly displayed. Also introduced is a project by a travel agency to deepen public understanding of space ventures. Explore the cutting edge of Japan’s private space development.

4. "Tell Us About Your Future"

Write messages to your "future self" or share what kind of future you hope for. Your messages will be digitized and sent to the moon as part of Nippon Travel Agency’s "We are going to the moon" project.
