"WALKING ON A DREAM" began in 2022 and has driven tourism to Western Australia through partnerships with airlines and travel agencies, events, and advertising campaigns in 13 major global markets, including Japan. In the year leading up to October 2025, the number of overseas visitors reached a record high of 1,024,000 (a 17% increase year-on-year), making it the state with the highest growth rate in Australia. To further accelerate this growth momentum and achieve the goal of a tourism economy size of $25 billion by 2033, we will continue to support the growth of Western Australia's tourism industry.
Western Australia's endlessly vast skies and deserts, turquoise seas sparkling with coral reefs, and ancient lands holding stories spanning hundreds of millions of years—In the Next Chapter, the core story of "WALKING ON A DREAM," the "Spirit of Adventure," is expressed in a new form through immersive visuals, inviting viewers to the unimaginable world woven by Western Australia's great nature. The production was handled by a local creative team, featuring cast and artists deeply connected to Western Australia. Reflecting the Aboriginal value that "everything in nature is interconnected," the campaign fantastically depicts Western Australia as a unique destination where nature, culture, and people are integrated.
Furthermore, "THE DREAMERS," launched as part of this campaign, is a group of ambassadors composed of content creators and opinion leaders based in Western Australia. They have been selected to embody six key experience themes representing the state: nature, gourmet, culture, sports, and more. Through video content, experience programs, and event appearances, they will deliver new travel inspirations. Their specific experiences can also be utilized as ideas for tour development by travel companies.
"WALKING ON A DREAM" Next Chapter Campaign Movie Overview
The campaign movie features Nelson Baker, an actor with Aboriginal roots, and Angelica Brazzale, an actress from the state capital, Perth. It showcases the diverse attractions of Western Australia, comprising five regions: the state capital "Perth," "South West," "Golden Outback," "Coral Coast," and "North West." From the sophisticated urban scenery of "Perth" and the resort-like openness of "Rottnest Island" to the beautiful wineries of "Margaret River," swimming with whale sharks at "Ningaloo Reef," and the astonishing natural landscapes of the "Kimberley," the movie allows viewers to experience the representative tourist spots of each area and the magnificent beautiful scenery.
The music uses a newly arranged version of the hit song "Walking On A Dream" by the state's own music duo "Empire of the Sun," performed by local artists. With support from vocalist Luke Steele, the arrangement features a collaboration with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, as well as vocals and traditional instruments by Aboriginal artist Billy-Joe Shoveller.
