Wemex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hideaki Takahashi; hereinafter "Wemex"), a subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; TSE Prime: 6523), announces that the number of installations of its electronic prescription management software (hereinafter "electronic prescription") for medical institutions and pharmacies has surpassed 25,000 as of May 2026 (※1).
The electronic prescription system is a core initiative in advancing healthcare digital transformation (DX), and its adoption is steadily increasing across medical institutions and pharmacies nationwide. Wemex has continuously supported the implementation of electronic prescriptions, tailored to each institution’s operational policies and regional infrastructure conditions. The milestone of surpassing 25,000 cumulative installations reflects the proactive and planned adoption by medical institutions and pharmacies, demonstrating the solid expansion of DX operational infrastructure in healthcare settings.
# Adaptation to the June 2026 Medical Fee Revision
The June 2026 revision of medical fees will restructure the "Medical DX Promotion Infrastructure Allowance" into the "Electronic Medical Information Linkage Infrastructure Allowance (※2)," further clarifying the importance of medical information linkage systems, including electronic prescriptions.
Wemex’s electronic prescription system is fully compliant with this medical fee revision. Therefore, medical institutions and pharmacies already using Wemex’s system can transition smoothly to post-revision operations without significant changes to their current workflows.
# Preparations for the Full-Scale Launch of the "Electronic Medical Record Sharing Service"
In anticipation of the full-scale launch of the "Electronic Medical Record Sharing Service (※3)," a key initiative expected to further advance healthcare DX, Wemex is actively participating in government-led model projects. Through system provisioning to participating facilities, Wemex is accumulating technical validation and operational insights.
These model projects are conducting operational assessments to enable safe and seamless information linkage while minimizing the burden on frontline staff. As a system provider, Wemex is supporting these initiatives. Additionally, Wemex products are listed on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s official list of "System Vendors Compatible with the Electronic Medical Record Sharing Service (※4)," which identifies vendors capable of implementing necessary system upgrades.
Furthermore, as part of the "Medical Fee Revision DX" initiative, Wemex is participating in the development and operation of the "Common Billing Module (※5)," aimed at standardizing and streamlining medical billing processes. Wemex is also involved in the Product Working Group (※6) established to design and develop a "Standardized Electronic Medical Record System," targeting the realization of standardized medical information systems. Wemex is actively contributing to standardization and interoperability efforts in alignment with national policies.
Moving forward, Wemex will continue to enhance system usability and strengthen its implementation support framework to promote smoother communication among medical institutions, pharmacies, and patients, further advancing healthcare DX.
